I have looked EVERYWHERE and i couldnt find out how or where to put LEDs for the footwell lighting. SO i just DID IT!

I baught 6 9.5in Flexable LEDs from Oznium.com and started looking online how to power them. Everyone that I have seen that have these have got them on ALL THE TIME the option people have is putting a rocker switch so they can manually turn them off and on. Now personally i didnt want to have them on in the middle of the night driving all they way home from lets say work with these 6 LEDs lighting up the entire floor board of my car. I like it black in there when i am driving in the dark so I thought what can I do to get this effect.

You'll Need:

LED Lights
Wire Cutters
Butt Connectors
Zip Ties
A Crimping Tool
Patience

Wiring it to the dome lights or door courtesy lights. AND this is how I did so!

If you have a wiring diagram you can use it but the one I purchased didnt help at all.

1. Open Passanger Door.
2. I popped off the plastic cover to the door courtesy light.
3. Unscrew the screw next to the light.
4. Now pull on the door pocked just enough to see into the door panel.
5. Look for the colors of the wires goign to the light.
6 The colors to mine were Blue/Red and a Yellow/Black
My guess is that they will probably be the same.
7. Then I popped out the glove compartment, Very easy to do.
8. I found where all the wires from the door enter the car.
9. Once found pull them away from the car and pull any tape off to more easily access the wires.
10 Now that you have found the 2 wires you need, Disconnect the Battery and Cut them.
11. Alright they are cut.
12. My lights have a copper wire and a silver wire (Copper goes to the Yellow/Black) (Silver goes to Blue/Red)
13. Put one end of the cut wire into the same end as the copper wire into the butt connector. Put the other cut wire in the open end to the butt connector.
14. Attatch Battery and make sure that light you just wired works.
15. If they work the effect you should get is when the door is open they come on. When the door is shut they dimm a little bit then fade out.
16. Now that one light works you just have to tap into the wires going to that light.
17. I have 6 in my car. 2 under the Driver seat, 2 under Passanger, and 2 under the dash.

I hate wires runnin all over the place so what I did was I placed them so all of the wires were facing the center of the car. You dont have to take out any seats just a little flexability to see what your doing. The seats are on tracks. if the wires go underneath or around the seat tracks the seat will be able to move forward and back with out running over the wire. I then ran the wires under the middle consol's plastic. up to under the dash where I tapped into the driver side for the driver side seat lights, and tapped into the passenger side for the passanger seat lights.

Does that help?
