I saw my headliner is falling down in the back by the window and up front by the sunglass holder. It seems like the headliner should last more that 5 years. I am going to try and replace it myself. Any tips?

Actually, in my 626 I used rubber molding from JCWhitney to fix the falling headliner. You may want to try the same if it has not gone too far. I can try to find a link if you're interested.
Edit: All you have to do is spread the trim apart (has a metal core) and slide it over the headliner with the help of a butter knife or smooth object, then press it closed. looks great IMO, pics in my sig of the 626. |

Thanks for the link Alex. I dont think it will work for me because now the front is falling down aswell. I think it should be under warantee but my car is five years old so they will probbaly not cover it. I have always taken good care of my car so it makes me upset that this is happening.

If it is only a few inches, it works great honestly. I just did it do my dad's late 90's Jeep Grand Cherokee and it looked 1000% better. And as the saying goes, provide the beer and housing and we will come ;-).
If you have a butter knife, it is pretty easy and worth the 20 bucks. I tried doing the 3m spray adhesive too on my 626 and really it just looked like crap. It made the fabric stiff, which is why I tried the trim in the first place. I did that the whole way around the Jeep Cherokee. Let me know if you want it done, I'm willing to help out. |

It's happening to me too. I noticed we're all FL guys.. might have something to do with the heat or humidity?

I can't say if it's covered under warranty or even how long/how well the trim works since my car was totalled less than a year after I did the trim - and it hasn't even been 6 months since I did my dad's jeep. Heat and humidity does make the headliner fall down quicker from what I can see. It makes sense, the glue breaks down in the stock headliner with the combo - sucks, but its true.

SC00001.gif]Wow cant believe I found this thread. I have been fighting with Mazda, the dealer and corporate, over this exact same issue. I am also in Florida, Fort Myers, and my mazda is 5 years old as well. It has 56k miles and I take really good care of my car inside and out. My headliner is falling in the same places in the back near the back glass and at the front on both sides. The dealership offered me 10% off of $850 ($450 parts/ $400 labor) which I laughed at. Thanks buddy!! Then I call corporate and do no better. They contact their florida rep or whatever and they offer me 10% off. Then I call corporate headquarters trying to get in touch with James J Sullivan CEO of North American operations, fight with like ten secaretaries, and get nowhere. They actually offered me 10% off too. OMFG!!! I want to drive my freakin car through the front of Sam Galloway and and beat someone to death.I think its great, what I have been telling these people and they have no idea what to say. "So ok you're telling me that the headliner in my 5 year old car is falling down and that is ok with you company. Why would I ever buy another Mazda? I figure in these economic times you might try to help me. I think if you actually fixed it I could be like "hey they at least fixed and maybe we could get another one. But no you're telling me to f myself." These people are so sick of hearing from me. But I think maybe I will wear them down eventually. Ok first thing everyone else call (949)442-6507 and ask for James J Sullivan maybe we can piss him off at least. I am on a mission to get some sort of satisfaction from these a-holes Now I am actually thinking about trying to do the spray adhesive and I'm pretty sure that is going to come out like crap if I do it myself but I may try anyway. I also wonder if a regular car shop could do it for less. Not sure but will be checking into it soon. |

just go to a custom shop and get it done for like 100-150. or do what another member did, remove it and re-wrap it with black suede.....it looks soooo nice!
