What kind of washing detergent should i use when washing my microfiber and drying towels?

The reason i ask is; i baby my car like no other and give it frequent washes. im extremely gentle when wiping it dry and waxing, however i noticed a lot of tiny hairline scratches on many areas of the car (especially the hood) under certain lighting. I keep my towels extremely clean and always make sure there are no rocks in it, etc. So im pretty confused as to why im getting small scratches in my paint. Im guessing the microfiber has become more harsh with frequent washing and is scratching the paint.

i am currently using Tide powder detergent.

I use liquid detergent. Just make sure you don't use fabric softener.

Also don't use the powder. It can somtimes leave some grains of detergent on the towels and that can lead to scratching on the paint surface. Also try to use a detergent that has no scent and no pretreaters.

i use xtra liquid detergent, but if your worried that yours are getting too rough just get some new ones. I bought a 12 pack (or mabye it was 15) of MF hand towels at target for about 6 bucks and they work nice.

It may have something to do with the way you are using the towels. You shouldn't drag them around the paint, instead blot them to absorb the water. Whenever you drag anything over the paint you are bound to make tiny scratches. Time to look at a good polishing to get back to the mirror finish. I use a water blade to wipe off 75 % of the water and then blot with a waffle weave towel.

It's the WAUD clogging the fibers. Liquid waxes will do that over time. The fastest/cheapest way to rectify that is after a wash, boil them for about 10mins. You'll be amazed at the gunk that floats to the top of the water. Will work like new after that.

Cheap MF's are gonna fuzz and not be absorbant no matter what. Most of the time with MF you get what you pay for...

You can't. Sure you can spend hours and hours washing and waxing your car, but as soon as you start driving you are bombarded constantly by crap from the road. I don't care how much wax or how well you keep your car clean, crap will always find a way to f@#k up your paint! So I wouldn't worry much about small scratches. What I am worried about is a chunk of asphault being kicked up by the car in front of me or the asshole kid that throws an egg at me.* trust me when I say that there is no amount of wax or other paint protectant that will stop an egg from eating through your paint in a matter of seconds!*

Stop picking fights with kids.

If you wax your car nicely, most of that egg would just slide off and give you enough time to park (if driving) and pop open the trunk, grab the quick detailer and get that crap off in time.
