(IMG:style_emoticons/default/3.gif) So since everyone will be receiving their unit very soon, and i've taken it upon myself to create a new thread to make it easier for anyone that is interested in this unit, and is to lazy/has no time/no patience to read through all 80+ pages found here.
Status Update - 12/28/07 3:55pm EST Works 1.explorecaves 2.sexy6s 3.looky1885 4.BREAKTHRGH21 5.borusky 6.simon123 7.shinslinger66 8.momom6 9.超凡脫俗 10.GTV6SW 11.Concerted Reaction 12.ecko280 (replacement unit sent out, works fine - slight driver issue (IMG:style_emoticons/default/68.gif) ) 13.Nos4R2 (replacement unit) 14.Japan8 15.borsuky 16.JAmazan 17.Kirmit 18.Mazdaspain 19.ryceboi 20.Heilander 21.Jcblack 22.aviator79 23.Speedy 6 24.Mazdakias GR Doesn't Work 2.Nos4R2 (lines, no display) 3. MZDASPD6 (Touchscreen Overlay) Not Sure 1.forrestang - (constantly having issues working on replacement) FAQ: - Mazda6club price for unit = $566.74USD shipped to anywhere in the USA, and Canada pm me if outside North America... - 7 inch no name brand TOUCHSCREEN motorized unit. Complete plug n play with factory Mazda6 headunits (Both Bose and non-Bose? - will confirm later). This is a VGA unit so a carputer must be created. Native Resolution for the screen is 800 x 600 *For more on carputer information and for powering of your carputer please visist www.mp3car.com. (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/IMG_7439.jpg) (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/IMG_7459.jpg) (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/IMG_7454.jpg) (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/IMG_7458.jpg) (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/IMG_7457.jpg) (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/IMG_7456.jpg) (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/IMG_7455.jpg) (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/IMG_7451.jpg) (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/IMG_7450.jpg) (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/IMG_7452.jpg) (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/IMG_7453.jpg) (IMG:http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/sexy6s/entire_harness.jpg) *for the harness make sure you properly ground the green wire as well. I simply just wrapped it around one of the bolts on behind the headunit, and that was a disaster! I got so much feedback/static and crackling through my speakers...so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you ground the green wire properly. I used a simple spade connector found at any local radioshack VIDEO OF HOLY GRAIL Featured in the video: Carputer = HP ZT3340us Laptop FrontEnd = RoadRunner of course! Skin = iPhone (most stable Flash based skin to date IMO) GPS = iGuidance 3.0 GPS Rec.= BU 353 *all software, and gps receiver can be found by searching mp3car.com My thoughts: Unit arrived extremely quickly. Once she sent me tracking info it was already at my door before it was processed on the DHL website. (about 3 days from China to your door) Also remember to us DHL, as many before you have used UPS and received a crack screen. This unit is exactly what has been promised by Jessica. The quality is great, the lid is 96% an exact match of your interior dash, and the motorized unit opens/closes flawlessly. The unit will auto shut down/close when the key is out and the car is turned off after 5-10 seconds, and it does come with a remote as well. The screen has its own independent power, so you can still run your carpc and close the screen. It has a VGA input for your carputer, and 3 RCA compositive video inputs for whatever. The screen also has 2 RCA outputs for maybe what seems to be the next project head rest monitors! So stay tuned, we've only yet to begin receiving the few big shipment of test units, and this is the thread to check out the reviews. NOTE: aviator79 has stated that his unit would not close tightly, but upon connecting a vga cable, it would close securely. So before you decide to take it apart make sure you try all routes first before disassembling/repairing the unit. Special thanks to Number6 wherever you are, and of course MazdaSpain who organized everyone and worked his magic to get Jessica to create this specially customized unit for our 6's. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/1.gif) If you are interested in this unit, I am responsible for North American sales of this unit for Jessica's company. You can now purchase through me by directly sending me the money through PayPal. She still is very comfortable with Western Union, but for those of you that would rather feel comfortable having me be the trusted middle man, you can pm me through here with your name, and location if outside the US so that i can approximate how much it will cost to either ship from my NJ location or Jessica's China location. The price for the unit if sent through paypal will be $566.74USD which includes S&H. Also just as a heads up the price has been increased on the auction list because of paypal, and eBay fees. In the end i'm making a little over $12 to cover the cost of shipping the unit to you in the states after eBay, and paypal take their commission.... References: How To Take Apart the Center Console. I was also not able to be present when it arrived- but the unit was packed very well- essentially the retail box, within another cardboard box- no damage to either. Display assembly was shrink wapped and upon removing the shrick wrap it looks great! I do not have power to the unit so will not be able to see it opened up... The box that was in a box (IMG:http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s228/shinslinger66/P1020037.jpg) What the packaging was like- it was shrink wrapped but I could not help myself... (IMG:http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s228/shinslinger66/P1020039.jpg) A blurry image of the grain- looks very close to the original, if not the same. (IMG:http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s228/shinslinger66/P1020041.jpg) What was in the box- there was also a USB cable and a stylus that I missed. (IMG:http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s228/shinslinger66/P1020043.jpg) The front (IMG:http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s228/shinslinger66/P1020044.jpg) The back (IMG:http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s228/shinslinger66/P1020046.jpg) cheers, Peter |

def worth the cash, installed it all last nite, my friends couldn't stop drooling over how well it fits, now i have to build the stupid computer for it.
The only thing that i feel could be made better is that the ir sensor is pointed up rather than straight. This force you to hold the remote up to operate it rather just point straight at it besides that i am complete satisfied |

So last night I tore apart my dash to install this lovely Monitor. The pics above very accurately depict how the unit comes. Very very well packaged, no shipping damage, and build as though it came right from Mazda. They even included 4 little Mazda plates so you can label the screen. I can see the dealer truly believing that this is a factory part, that's how well it integrates. On a side note, I have the Factory 6Disc MP3 changer in my Speed, and it integrates perfectly.
I did however run into 1 minor issue during install. When I powered on and tested the screen, the PC did not pick up the USB connection. After about an hour of double-checking all of the connections, I noticed that in the supplied harness, a small white wire going to the plug that attaches to the screen was not attached properly. It's a wire that goes from the screen, to the USB connector, and it looks as though it was crimped on, but came loose. Nothing a little soldering didn't fix right up. Works flawlessly, very accurate once you calibrate the touchpanel using the provided software. Jessica was very professional, and definately kept us all in the loop every step of the way. I'll take a few more pics and post them up when I get a chance. cheers, |

This force you to hold the remote up to operate it rather just point straight at it besides that i am complete satisfied yeah if you'll see in my video that the remote needs to be more or less to the right of the unit to work...but whatever, it works fine from the backseat.... for those after/during nookie times... Thanks all for the feedback, glad you like it. I put a little armor all on the unit and my dash, and it'll help to blend in even more..... |

Hi fellows!
Congratulations to everybody who is having these firsts units. I'm glad to see how this project became a reality and how a lot of peolple enjoy their screens. Mine (not VGA touchscreen) is working fine since four months, despite I use it a lot. Mechannical parts are the same, so I guess no problems from there. Greetings to everybody. |
