Wow, this is very valuable information. I just read the TSB about the noisy brake pedals. Checked my brake fluid and it is a dirty brown color. Going to have the brake fluid flushed. Amazing how the Mazda fluid systems (i.e. brake, transmission, etc.) get dirty so easily. Not amazing in a good way. Never had either flushed on any car I've owned since 1971. (Yes, I'm an old geezer) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/32.gif)

But to keep this reply on topic, has anyone ever been able to persuade Mazda to pay for a repair AFTER the warranty is up, when there was a TSB for a repair? Just curious if I would be totally wasting my time on the throttle body replacement.

Its long gone..... besides your warranty has probably expired on it anyway. From what I understand it only happened to a small batch and didn't warrant a TSB.

Think I have this throttle body issue and stumbled upon the TSB - this could come in handy for some of you guys:

Holy SH!t what a difference! My wife's car has shifted hard from 2-3 when I drove it, so I finally took it to the dealer to see what they thought. I was thinking it was a tranny problem, but the dealer said it was the throttle body. The dealer wanted $600 to replace it. I got home and sent and email to mazdastuff.com, and a couple of days later I had a new throttle body in my hands for $220. Twenty minutes later and its on the car. No more shift shock!

um, stupid question but how did you know which CEL showed up in your car? Do you have a diagnostic tool?
If you get a CEL, and aren't able to get it to a dealer right away and it disappears the next time you turn on your car, does it still record somewhere that it got a CEL? Does the dealer need to see the CEL on before they inspect it? I'm wondering because the bulletin says this near the bottom:

So for this issue, I have an AA so can I tell them to replace it without a CEL light ever coming on?

p.s., thanks for the find!

Dumb question...what are you guys referring to by "AA" and "BB"?

Thanks,

Nogster

Not a dumb question. The AA and BB that is being referred to are part of the part numbers on the actual TB.

My TB is an AA on my 04' 6s, and i've never had any problems with it. From what i've read not all of them seem to be defective.

Take it from someone who appeared to be one of the lucky ones and don't be so sure that it'll never happen to you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/5.gif)

My 03 6S manual just hit 80K and threw the P2135 and P2110 codes along with random rough idle / TCS warning light behavior. It drives fine after a quick shut down and restart (scary sometimes while I'm on the freeway), but the sluggish responsive and rough shifting always comes back.

Just ordered the Cordova optimized throttle body and will swap it ASAP. Just wish it didn't take so long to prepare and ship (IMG:style_emoticons/default/6.gif)

Sorry to hear about your CEL. Have you started getting the random TCS error light, rough idle, and undriveable throttle response yet?

I'm still waiting for my Cordova TB, but will post again once I have it installed and am sure that the problem is gone.
