So, I have my new MS6 (yay!), and I want to install an iPod adapter for the head unit. I finally decided on the Ice>Link: Plus because they support playlist capability, steering wheel control and actually have an adapter for the car. When I called to place the order, though, the sales rep needed to know what the firmware version on the car was. I hadn't seen anything on this in the owner's manual, but I went ahead and tried to search again with no luck. So I called the local dealer, but the service people had no clue on this and recommended calling the MazdaUSA support line. I went ahead and did this, too, but now these people also had no information on how to do this... They suggested calling both Panasonic and FMS because one of those two companies manufactures the unit (they weren't really sure which one, though....). Calling Panasonic lead nowhere and the lady answering for FMS had no idea what this "firmware" thing was (I believe her words were, “Is that a type of radio?”) and all the service guys had already gone home by 4:30. And I still don't know if it's a Panasonic or FMS.
So, after all this, I'm desperately hoping one of you out there knows how to do this (or knows that all of MS6 head units have firmware version X). Help! (and a pre-emptive thanks!) This post has been edited by jaied: Jan 27 2006, 08:52 PM |

If it helps, the Sirius satellite radio kit for the Mazda is made by Sanyo.

Ok, after emailing Mazda in the hopes that a little time to actually look up stuff would help, they responded saying that the HU is in fact not a Panasonic or FMS, but a Sanyo........ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
Still no model number or firmware version though, sigh...(IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) |

Good luck with that one btw Dave Yeah, I tried the hidden button thing, but it didn't work. For one thing, there is no longer a 'text' button in the 2006 HU, instead, there is a 'text' dial which is the same as the tuner knob. And I did ask the sales rep how to do that, but she just sort of gave me a 'look it up in the owner's manual' / 'you're retarted' sort of answer... |

I have no idea what you're talking about as far as a "text" button goes. However, that is some really shitty customer service. I would think that if the company is asking you what the firmware is on the radio, they would at least know how to look it up themselves. That's not a common thing, and is defenitely not something I would expect to find in an owner's manual. Maybe in the tech manual, but def not in the owner's manual. Try them again, ask if they can walk you through finding out what version the firmware is. |

On the RX-8, you press TEXT and then press and hold 1 at the same time. On the Mazda 3, you press AUDIO CONT and then press and hold 1 at the same time.
I've never tried it in the 6, but I'd imagine it would probably be done by pressing one of the larger knobs and then pressing and holding 1 at the same time. As a side note, I thought I'd mention that our AudioLink iPod Integration Kit works perfectly on the Mazdaspeed6. This post has been edited by falcontx: Jan 30 2006, 10:34 PM |

I guess I should have said what I've already tried, too. Here are the button combinations I've done so far and what they do: AUDIO CONT + Any other button = nothing Power + 5 = "M-02" Power + 6 = "P-07-03" Power + Seek Down = "L" (No idea what these mean... model numbers, perhaps? installation date?) Power + Auto-M = Amp ON/OFF indicator Power + AM = Radio Signal Strength Indicator Power + AM/CD = Blanks LCD Power + Media = Restores LCD Power + Scan = Speaker Test Power + Anything else = Nothing that I can tell I believe these are all correct, but it's from memory, so I'll try it again later and write it down to check. QUOTE As a side note, I thought I'd mention that our AudioLink iPod Integration Kit works perfectly on the Mazdaspeed6. Yeah, the only reason I shied away from the AudioLink was that I wanted to be able to use playlists, but now I'm starting to care less and less about them...... |

jaied-
Did you find anything out? I need to know too for this: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread...d=1#post1012160 I am assuming since it's supposed to work for 02 and up that my 06 already has the necessary firmware. I'd still like to know though. Thanks. |
