Took out the back panel and this is what I saw.

Bracing

Closer Look

And then I found the latch!!!!! One for each side.

Flip the latch and this is what happens. :) :) :)

I am a happy man now that I found that it is possible to carry bigger items in the trunk. :D

What, did they make it where you have to take apart your trunk to put the seats down?

Just a small panel, held in with speed clips.

Takes all of 30 seconds to get it out.

Totally awesome!!! Thanks for saving me an investment in a roof rack and for a passthrough for hockey sticks. This will save me tons of hassles. Also, have to thank Mazda for thinking of us setting up the fold down but have to castigate them for failing to point this out. Obviously, it was a real concern for a number of folks in buying the car and it would have made the purchase decision that much easier.

Now if someone could just figure out how to get my autodim/homelink rearview mirror put back in like my old 6s I would be happy as a pig in sh!t.

Thats pretty sweet...its like an easter egg or something...only its in a car.

If anything, I'd be upset that they included all the extra folding seat hardware without telling you...probably adds like 5 lbs to 10 lbs, and most people won't realize they can make use of it. Stupid beancounters...

This is awesome news. Quick question for onedeath (or anyone else)... When one removes one of those little pins, is the process destructive? That is, can I pull the pin out without destroying it? Or is it one of those arrangements where something has expanded once the pin is through the hole and now it's permanently stuck?

I just want to know before I start. Either way, I think I'll use some strips of velcro to hold the trim panel in place when the back seat is in the upright position.

Nice find!
