So I take my Mazda 6 for the 10,000km ( 6000 mils) service and the next day they called me and told me that my front brake pads are completely worn and I have to change them, do you guys think this is normal? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) brakes fall under a limited lifetime warranty as long as they are genuine mazda parts and installed by an authorized mazda dealer (labor is not covered). the 1st 6000 miles should not completely wear down the pads unless you are riding the brakes excessively or have the handbrake on--which is a different issue altogether. get the dealer to inspect the issue and be firm not to pay for new parts. |

all good comments...and I just wanted to through one other out there...see if the pads are actually that worn. It won't be the first time a shady mechanic tried to scam someone for money by recommending brake pad replacements when there is nothing wrong with them.

Thank you guys for the comments, yesterday I went to see the car and I told them I want to see the old pads, and when I checked them they are not completely worn but I know a guy there he said that it won’t last until the next service, so it’s better to changed them now, also he’s telling me that in some cases they changed the pads for other customer in the 5000km service (3100 miles), also my friend’s CX-9 when he took it for the 6000 miles service they told him that the car needed roter facing , what I think is that there is a factory defect and sill nobody now about it becuz its still a new car.

those cases are probably the people that drive riding the brakes. that is a quick way to glaze rotors and eat up the pads.
if it is not the case, the pads are the same iir as the 1st gen. same size pad on a heavier car makes a difference, but the 1st gen didn't have any serious brake wear issues. |

Are you sure that the 1ST gen. have the same pads as the 2ND gen. if they are I’m planning to buy hawk ceramic brake pads.

if they really are that small then I'm going to go to Cali and steal C-man's breaks. I have 18,000 miles on mine and I still haven't replaced any of the brakes (that might because I down shift as much as possible), but I do plan on upgrading from the OEM he at some point.

if you steal my brakes, how am I supposed to stop? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/5.gif)
I'm at 27k miles. The oem rears are still great. I removed the front oem assembly well over double your 6k miles mark and they looked great as well. Set up a cabin camera that shows your footwork on the pedals and record your driving habits for a week so we can investigate. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/5.gif) |
