Car&Driver said the Taurus SHO was faster than the Audi RS6... and its 1/2 the price. Well worth it IMO

Somehow I think you must be confused. The RS6 has come in two variants, both turbocharged, and both providing well in excess of the Taurus SHO's performance. The first variant (twin turbo 4.2L V8) produced 450bhp and 415lb/ft of torque delivered through a five-speed tiptronic and Quattro AWD system, and could get the car from 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, to the quarter in 12.63 at 109 (stock SHO is around 13.7-14 seconds at 100-103mph). The second variant of the RS6 had a twin turbo V10, essentially a slightly detuned version of the engine in the Gallardo, and it makes 572bhp, 479lb/ft and is delivered through a 6-speed tiptronic and Quattro system. It can hit 60mph in 4.3 seconds (some magazines report more, some less), the quarter in about 12.1-12.7 (depends on which source) and at around 110mph.

On the other hand, the SHO is a much closer comparison to the regular S6, as the quarter times are around 13.8-14.0 seconds at similar speeds, and the prices are more in line with what you were saying before, the RS6 is hugely expensive these days, running something like $126,000USD, if you can even import one (they aren't available in the US).
