Just thought I would ask. My boyfriend gets severe heartburn and headaches pretty much every day. I want to figure out how to help him. I bought some Prilosec OTC but it says to stop after 2 weeks. It worked PERFECT. No heartburn no problems. I am trying to figure out how to prevent his heartburn with something that won't hurt him long term. FYI: he has no health insurance.
Now the migraines he gets is another story. .. pretty much every other day he gets a headache some worse than others.... Excedrin migraine does nothing. Any advice? |

Heartburn could be from the types of food he eats, drinking too much soda, eating too late.. or else he has damage to his esophagus from erosion of acid reflux.
The headaches, maybe he needs his eyes examined to make sure they're not strained, or he's sleeping the wrong way? I used to have frequent neck pains until I got a new bed and pillows. For either thing, I would definitely recommend he sees a doctor especially if he's used the over-the-counter stuff with no relief. |

I fear that he will damage his esophagus if he doesn't take care of this. I wonder about his eyes being a factor with his headaches. He is color blind and has sensitive eyes....good call!! I just hate seeing him in pain. |

throughout my wifes pregnancy she has had really bad heartburn
the only thing that works for her are pepcid ez chews, they are a bit pricey but they work fast. the box looks like this (IMG:http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61D2paPkJJL._SL500_AA280_PIbundle-2,TopRight,0,0_AA280_SH20_.jpg) for the migraines, try cutting his caffeine intake or taking some magnesium this worked for a few people i know. |

My friend used to get heartburn by just SMELLING BBQ sauce when she was pregnant. I tell you what though, her kids both came out with thick, long black wavy hair. Maybe there is something to that old wives' tale? It might be AIDS. j/k WRONG! Everyone knows those are the sumptoms of Stormitis... You're such an ignorant fuck lol but we still like ya. |

Has he had his wisdom teeth pulled or has any dental problems? I've lived about the past 10 years with near daily headaches, its due to two of my wisdom teeth impacted into my sinus cavity.

No nothing like that. Lapis brought up a good point though.....I wonder if it has to do with his eyes. When it's cloudy his eyes are even more sensitive..... |

I can't speak for the heartburn, but a couple of years ago, I was plagued with crippling headaches nearly every day of my life. It had gotten to the point where no amount Tylenol / Advil was stopping it.
My sister threw out a suggestion that worked for her, so I gave it a shot. I switched from anti-perspirant to deodorant. My headaches stopped the next day and never returned. |

My roommate has prescription sunglasses due to his high sensitivity of light (Even fluorescent light), if I flip on the light in the kitchen without warning him first, he'll have a headache for about an hour. He's also made the comment to me before that the sun is worse on cloudy days, I remember it because it made no sense to me. |

People can get more sunburned on days that are cloudy then days that are sunny. |

ya i've heard that old wives tale also well, i'll find out tomorrow if its true or not! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/36.gif) Already? I remember when you posted about her being pregnant. Wow, time flies! My sister threw out a suggestion that worked for her, so I gave it a shot. I switched from anti-perspirant to deodorant. My headaches stopped the next day and never returned. Now that's weird. What was her reasoning for suggesting that? My roommate has prescription sunglasses due to his high sensitivity of light (Even fluorescent light), if I flip on the light in the kitchen without warning him first, he'll have a headache for about an hour. He's also made the comment to me before that the sun is worse on cloudy days, I remember it because it made no sense to me. I have light sensitive eyes as well. I have to wear sunglasses to the dentist, and I'm the same way as your roommate when you flip on a light in a room that's almost dark. Camera flashes give me instant headaches as well, so I try to avoid them as much as possible. Cloudy days hurt his eyes more because of the reflections. Just like when you get sunburned (which I do too, being a natural redhead and all) you get burned more when it's cloudy because you don't feel the sun's heat as much but it's still there. |

For heartburn, I take Zantac 150, plus sometimes I do a Malox chaser. Certian foods set it off, spicy, fatty, Caffiene, Alcohol. I did elevate the head of the bed which helped too. Try not to eat or drink much 2 hours before bedtime.
Priolsec, or other PPI's take a while to build up in your system before they work. |

It's not necessarily triggered with certain foods for him. He just has it all the time. |

Like if I have a severe attack and people ask me if I'm having a heart attack, I get more heart attack symptoms. |

Now that's weird. What was her reasoning for suggesting that? Her headaches got so bad in intensity and frequency she finally went to the doctor, and he suggested it. Her results were the same as mine....the next day, she was back to normal. Some anti-perspirants have some pretty nasty shit in them...I'm surprised I dont have tumors in my armpits. |
