Mazda,

Instead of packing an extra remote with your remote start system ('09 M6), please offer a new remote that looks just like the stock remote (intelligent key type) but has an extra button and the needed circuitry to perform the remote start function...all in one.

Thanks,
Mike Steinbach

The 1st generation remote start was the same way, there is a separate button from the remote.

I am curious to see how it works with the intelligent key on the 2nd generation.

Is yours a dealer-installed option? If so, no wonder it's a separate remote. Replacing "plain" keys from the factory with "starter-button" keys would probably add 50% to the cost of the installation.

Unlikely that will happen.

Why?

The Mazda remote start kit is manufactured for them by an OEM vendor by the name of Code Systems. They make many remote start units for various car manufacturers as well as retail sale.
Because it's a system designed and manufactured by an outside vendor it's unlikely that they would be able to design it into the car's smart key system.

I have an '06 with the Mazda remote start system, personally I don't think it's such a big deal to have the seperate remote fob, but to each their own.

one thing i have already done in the past.......way long ago when i used to install car starters.

use the trunk button to activate the car starter.
find the brain from your oem remote.....find the output that triggers the trunk release. cut the wire...tap in into the "remote start" wire on the remote starter. ( the remote start wire is a input wire on your remote start that lets you activate the start feature ). i don`t even know if this wire is still available on starters these days.

you loose the trunk release but it might help..... and the range isn`t as good.

there are many tricks to combining remotes but this was done back in the "old" days when cars were simple.

now with the multiplex wireing and different voltages it is wayyyy past my capabilities.

see ya

I believe we have the same OEM remote start from Code Systems. The range on this bitch is unreal! Probably because of the huge antenna in the windshield for it. I don't mind the extra remote start button. Here's a pic of mine, I'm sure yours is the same Dennis.

most aftermarket systems have a double or triple pulse input trigger, you can use either the lock or unlock output of the vehicle 3 times in succesion, to trigger the remote start to function...........

Autopage rs-603 has this option, as a side note you will be limited to the range of the factory remote
