Theres plenty of extra room in the back of a 5 to add a few stacks of batteries, add to that a small diesel engine and plug hybrid technology and you couldnt build enough of them.

That "plenty of room" is called cargo space, and you severely compromise the utility of the vehicle by putting some batteries back there to make it into a hybrid gimmick.

In addition, I don't think people consider that those batteries have to be replaced eventually at a cost of about $4000.

In addition, hybrid cars can't be jump started. Not that I need to have my car jumped ever, but just a thought. The dealer has to 'charge' them, which I'm sure isn't free.

You can't? I did not know that. I have needed to jump start cars on several occasions.

I didn't know that either until my friend (who used to work for AAA) told me.

Hybrids are a waste unless you drive mostly city, because there is hardly an advantage on the highway in fuel economy. I would think the multi-displacement or diesel would be a more cost-effective solution.
