Bose is alright for home stereo, but the Bose package for the Mazda 6 is just at par and hardly worth the extra $635. My friend has a '04 Mini Cooper-S and the Harmon Kardon system is miles ahead in all categories. Be original and even go for an aftermarket brand that the members here suggest. Hardcore Mazda drivers will love you for it. Oh yeah, an MP3-CD-compatible head unit as standard would be another great draw for an already great car.

I think saying their home stereo is OK is generous too... but the car system is lackluster at best.

A nice Alpine/Boston Acoustics system would be my pick...

Doesn't a 200 watt radio system with 6 speakers sort of fit right into what a Mazda 6 is? MP3 is also an option isn't it?

Bose isn't for everyone but it's still an upgrade. I wish Mazda offered Bose on the 3.

I am the kind of guy that lowers the windows, turns the radio off, when I drive. I listen to the rush of the air. The sound of the engine and the tires.

Go to most audiophile forums and they will tell you that Bose is a mediocre audio brand. The fact that it's manufactured in Europe probably makes people think that it's good.

I may be from Asia, but I can't deny the fact that JL Audio is one of the best, if not the best audio sound system for cars alongside Mcintosh. Harman Kardon also does for the top end BMW cars. They're fantastic, but too expensive.

Alpine and Eclipse makes the best head units. Kicker does one of the best amps and subs. Why go for European brands when the best ones are right under your noses! I envy you guys over there in the US.
