Default Tilt Instruments

I always have trouble with seat position, steering wheel position and intruments.

I position my seat low (I like the headroom), and I like the tilt wheel fairly low (aimed at my chest like the airbag manual says), but this always puts the top of the steering wheel directly across my instrument panel. I can't see any speeds or tach in the normal driving range.

A great solution would be an instrument cluster that could raise or lower. That way I could adjust my seat for comfort, my steering wheel for comfort and safety and then adjust my instruments for visibility.

Unfortunately that's some serious expense to put in something like that, I think. Serious luxury cars sometimes have it.

I wouldn't think so. The entire guage cluster is usually attached by one or two ribbon wires. That makes the cluster mobile within the reach of the ribbon. Mount the pod on a short vertical track and you've got it.

What am I missing?

big ugly lines/flexible plastic in the dash, to allow for the tilt. so its possible, but would not look good.
I've never had a car that the top part of the speedo (and tach) wasnt bloced off by the sterring wheel, the 6 is actually better than most. I'm used to it, it must be my uncool non-pimped driving position.
