Question Mazda Mobile Start - MMS

So I came across the MMS mention in one of the spec sheets for the 2016 M6 as an accessory option. I am wondering if anyone has any details on that yet? Is it like a mobile app starter or an integrated remote start in the car's keyfob? It would be a very welcome change if it's either as I hate to carry the giant remote starter all around.

I picked up the 2016 M6 brochure and read about MMS in there.

It's going to be a subscription based service to remote start the car through mobile app.

Subscription fee listed as $65 per year.

I am sure its going to cost the same for installation as the existing remote start systems.

And hopefully it will be compatible with 2014's and 15's too.

Its an app on your phone that works with iPhone and android. It allows you to lock or unlock your doors, start the engine, turn the rear defroster on or use the car finder function from just about anywhere. I got that information from the 2016 Mazda 6 pamphlet i got at a dealership. It says to go to MazdaMobileStart.com I went there yesterday and the site worked and it explained it more but now it seems like the site is down. Also you get the 1st year free when you get it installed by the dealer but after that it costs $65 a year. Hope that helps.

My dealership contacted Mazda USA yesterday and said that the system won't be ready for show until July...

yes, I actually talked to Mazda USA and they said it's still in it's final stages of testing and will be ready early summer. Your July date seems to be right on spot with that.

I don't understand, why no support for 2014/15 M6? I thought everything (except new infotainment system) is same on 2014 through 16. What makes 16's so very different?

I install this tonight. It's pretty straight forward and easy. It only uses one plug from the cars wiring harness. It must be to the start/stop module. The rest of the wiring is in the kit.
The plug from the cars wiring is the same plug that the keyfob remote start uses. So I don't understand why this wouldn't work on a 14/15.
When I registered my car on the MMS website, it asked what model and year I had. I could have chosen CX5, 6,3 and years 2014, 2015, 2016.

May be its just a marketing gimmick to keep the focus on 16's for sometime and then they will come out and say it will support 14's and 15's too. At least I hope so.
