Question Will the 2014 Mazda 6 Receive a Turbo Charged Option?

Hey guys I am new to the forum. I currently dont own a Mazda 6 but own a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Comp G. But I also enjoy Mazda's especially the Mazda Speed 3 and Mazda Speed 6. I am looking on getting either one of those cars when I get a new car in the future. So you can say I am a Mazda fan. But I want my first thread to ask a question that others are probably asking. I understand there is a thread on this car specifically but not a discussion based on this question so please bear with me.

The car looks amazing and its a shame its losing the V6 option. I can deal with the car not being offered in a V6 but the is no sign of a turbocharged four (Besides the diesel that might not be offered in North America).

This has me disappointed since of the engines offered being the Skyactive have only 170hp for such a large sedan. I understand being fuel efficient and everything but many other car companies who ditch v6 options always tend to offer a turbocharged four with as much or more hp than the outgoing V6.

I am noticing this removing fun out of the 6 trend from Mazda from each generation. The first generation had the Mazda Speed 6 which was amazing. Then the next generation dumped the speed 6 in favor of a V6 which was okay but with no manual option and a crappy 5 speed auto. Now there is a possibility of having a great looking car with no turbocharged or v6 options which really sucks.

Does anybody have a guess or idea. Maybe will they revive the MazdaSpeed 6 for enthusiasts or just offer a turbocharged option that not including the diesel making an excess of 200hp?

I truly hope they come up with something with a turbo or v6 in the future, because they will lose a loyal owner if not. I'll give them a couple years to improve upon their latest installment, but after that, c'mon what guy doesn't like power under his foot and be able to use it when he wants. The fun thats with the 1st gen 6 is phenomenal; you get in other cars that feel like you're not part of the car. I sure hope Mazda doesn't go that route. They're losing their sporty edge.

The CX-5 has less power than most of its competitors, by a lot, and is the sportiest and most fun to drive out of all of them still.

Although I agree with you! But I think the 2.5 turbo diesel will do the trick when it comes Q4 of 2012.

Doesn't help the US market...

That is the only market I was talking about. The most reliable info we have is that the US market is receiving a 2.5 Skyactiv-G at launch (which will also be an option on the CX-5) and the 2.5 Skyactiv-D in Q4 of 2013.

so US is getting both of those options? So we're just waiting on confirmation of a turbo.

If they do something like they did in Gen 1, it'll take them like 3 or 4 years to release it.

The Skyactiv-D is a (two stage) turbo.

MAZDA: SKYACTIV-D | ENGINE | SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY

If you mean a gasoline turbo, as in a Mazdaspeed6, you are right... It's probably a long way off if there is going to be one at all.

Yeah, I want a petrol based turbo. Not a MazdaTractor 6.
