Window tint? Please stand up!

I have an appointment next Saturday to get my windows tinted. Currently I have asked for 20% tint on all but the windshield. I have never had a car tinted before so I'm a little nervous. I'm wondering if I'm going too dark. Initially I thought it would look better all one percentage, but some pics I have seen here with 2 different percentages don't look too bad.

Could the people with tint post pics of their cars and the percentage of tint you got? It would be nice to compare them all in one spot. Thanks!

This is legal in ND up front (50%) and 5% in the back, with a 5% strip on the windshield. My previous car I did the 50% up front and 20% in the back. I like both honestly, but my kid really appreciates the darker tint on the back when the sun is bright

One thing I've noticed is that most images don't really show the differences well between tint levels. The car above this post has a 50/5, which should look insanely different, but the image makes both levels look the same. Here the limit is also 50 up front, and to minimize the difference when looking at the car, I did 35 for the rear windows and back. But from an image (especially in the shade) I don't know that my car would come across any different from the image above me.

None the less, if I have the time to get my car washed up tomorrow I can shoot some pics and see how they come out. I need to do that anyway.

In order to get an honest depiction of the tint you need to see a view from head on not an angle. When its taken at an angle from the front it looks much darker. The interior color also plays a factor. My 300C had 5% on the back 3 windows and 15% on the front 2 windows, it drove me crazy but the previous owner did it that way. My 6 has 20% all the way around. Wouldn't have it any other way! I can still see out at night, yet dark enough so you cant see right through. It looks uniform and clean.

Sidenote: I find it amusing when you pull up to someone at a stoplight and they have a lighter tint and think that you can't see them so they just stare at you or do something stupid.

Listen to this. Any angle you look at the car will change the way the windows look. You have to look at what's beyond the window to get a true feel. If it's cloudy, sunny, the other windows are down, sunshade open or closed, interior color, exterior color, type of film itself, cure time on the film, almost everything you can think of can change the way the windows will look. I personally prefer a straight dyed film with no metal/reflectiveness, nothing on the windshield, and go a shade darker on the rear window. I've been tinting cars for 11 years and this is my favorite combo.

@CIQMan07

I would get your windows tinted to your state's legal limit, and call it a day. I would love to have 20% tints on all my windows on my cars, but it simply isn't legal here in MA. It would get me tickets, and I wouldn't pass my yearly state inspection. I've had my local police pull me over simply to check my window tint...only to let me go after they measure my windows.

I have my windows tinted to an exact 35% with a tint meter, which is the legal limit. It looks fairly dark, even with my light tan interior.

Just an FYI, tint shops will tint whatever you request, some even require cash only, but it's not their responsibility to keep things road legal.

35 sides and 25 back. On previous cars I did 35(legal limit) for front and 25 for rear doors and windows. You can tell difference. Now I just went with uniform sides and darker rear. I used chrome film. You will be ok, especially with rear camera. On old cars it was challenging to back up at night
