Getting something less noticeable will reduce attention, but not the legality of what you are using. Nextras....go do some research.

i just bought 8000k hids for my fogs to go along with my 6000k lowbeams. this way if they are too blue or something i don't have to have them on all the time. smart, eh?

I just installed 8k hids on my lows and 8k in my fogs and my girl has only had one problem driving home with just the lows on. I think the cop thought she had her highs on and decided to pull behind her and flash between his/her high and low lights and then pull next to her and stare at her for a little and then drive off i think noticing it wasn't her highs lol. Here is a pic. Ive aimed them better since the pics lol.

If I remember correctly its DOT law that a car without HID's from the factory is illegal and can be pulled, sticking to 5-6000k is usually fine because that's around what you would see on a factory HID car

The main thing is to keep HID's in a projector and not in a halogen reflector. That's when shit gets ugly and dangerous.

Yes and no. Some cars (Acura, Nissan) offer HID in a standard (non-projector) housing, and they're legal. Conversely, I've seen some projector-types with aftermarket HIDs done poorly as well.

They offered that before before the newer technology of projectors. They also have a cut off line unlike regular halogen reflector bowls. I will agree with you on the bad projector set ups though.

Everything I've read about HID says if you retrofit them then, you are in fact breaking the law. That's why I've never attempted to do it.
