Hey guys i have had my 2007 mazda6 5door (2.3 I believe?) for a couple weeks now, and I love it.

Ever since I was smaller (I'm only 19 now) I have been a car lover, but only really as an observer, having a clean sounding/looking car has always been a dream of mine and with my new baby I can't wait to start modding.

I work part time and attend college part time and live at home so my paychecks (little as they may be) go straight to my pocket without bills/rent etc. and I want to get the nice cheap mods first.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling life story. Like I said earlier I have never really gotten a chance to be hands on with a car and don't know much about the talk of the modding community, I have been reading these boards as if mesmerized by the talk I don't understand.

I have gathered that Magnaflow mufflers are ideal for a nice sounding m6.

http://www.canadianautoreview.com/mazda6-rear1-800.JPG Is the rear of my model car if that is needed at all.

With that being said, sorry if my question is dumb.
Can I purchase and have installed a muffler and have it sound like http://www.fle-online.com/Sounds/Magnaflow/15861.mp3 this clip, or is that combined with other mods? And what size(s) should i be looking at? Whats a realistic price range for all muffler parts and installation? Links would be great.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Yah, sounds like a 4 cylinder with intake and exhaust. But costs & sounds depend on muffler type.

MagnaFlow might be over the top for you, im sure you could go with something simpler? Mufflers will get you the sound you are looking for (only sound not any HP gain, Also getting a Cold air intake could help you out

Also for mufflers installation is two rubber clamps(one for each exhaust) near the tip of your exhaust holding it in place and then two bolts on each exhaust connecting it to your engine.

....briefly..

I actually had not heard this response on any board and after looking at some vids etc straight pipes sound nice, can you point me to what i would go about purchasing? A company? Is this something I can install at home or does it need to be done professionally?

just go to a muffler shop and tell them you want your mufflers removed and to put on straight pipes. its about $50 per muffler to remove and install the pipes when i did mine.

I have the same magnaflow too and love it, you can usually get a used one on ebay or cragislist. I wanted a valid warranty so I got it here. Magnaflow 15861. Also some of the forum sponsors usually have a sale going on. Either way its a great exhaust system, sounds great, and very easy to install.

I have the magnaflows on my '03 2.3. I got them from CVR for $395 and intended to install them myself until I realized that the New England winters had done a number on the under side of my car and I couldnt' get the nuts off. I had a Monro (chain oil, lube, muffler shop) put it on for $65. I also bought the corksport hangers.

Overall the sound is nice. I will say that on the highway it can be a bit much and my girlfriend can't stand it.

Good luck.
