Hi,

Would it be tacky putting an Atenza badge on the back of a new 09 GT V6 (Sangria Red)? I'm asking since our north america version of the car is not the same as the "Atenza" version in Japan... If I do add the Atenza badge would it be better to remove the "V6" badge?

I was even thinking at one point to put the "Atenza" and "V6" badges next to the Mazda logo on the trunk, but that may be too much...

Or... would it be better to just de-badge it completely (removing the Mazda6 and V6 badges)?

Give me your thoughts...

Thanks...

Typically, when a Civic driver slaps a Ferio badge on his USDM Civic, cries of RICE and RICER are heard from coast to coast.

I think the same might happen with a 6.

I could have Mazdaspeed intake, exhaust, coilovers, wheels, shortshifter, flywheel....etc... on my 6s. That would be cool. But even with all that one would not dare put a Mazdaspeed badge on a 6i or 6s without fear of ridicule. It's silliness but that's the way it is.

It's too much of a stretch and I would just debadge completely. The the second generation 6 sold here shares no sheetmetal with the JDM car.

Seeing how the 2nd gen 6, and ESPECIALLY the v6, has almost nothing to do with the actual Atenza in Japan, you would look awfully dumb putting that on your car.

Or any non-JDM car, for that matter.

I agree with camryricer and business,
The 09 mazda6 for usa is not even the same car.

I guess a good way to look at it is:
Would you put a Mazda6 badge on a Ford Fusion?

and if anything, +1 on debadge.

Thanks guys, that's the way I was leaning. The new Gen is truly a "Mazda6" and nothing else...

I will debadge... even the "V6" badge.. I think it'll look cleaner.

I was also thinking of painting the mazda logo badge, but I'm thinking the chrome looks OK since I have the dual chrome exhausts.

Even if you could get a black chrome badge what would you do about the chrome exhausts? Would you paint them? Are you planning on painting the chrome badge black anyways?

What I'm really planning on painting though is the grey plastic around the fog lights (hopefully they're not too hard to remove)... Those don't match anything on the car.

My instructions say to remove the bumper, remove a bolt and screw holding on the foglight, slide back and toward the center of the bumper to remove.
It looks like 4 bolts hold the silver trim piece to the bumper.

To remove the front bumper:
Remove all screws and fasteners attaching the mudguard to the bumper.
Remove the 6 screws from under the front lip of the bumper.
Remove 2 screws, 4 fasteners, and two rubber bumpers from the top of the grille.
Pull the passenger side of the bumper outward by the wheel well, then forward below the headlight and work your way toward the driver side.

Thanks Mike! I was hoping I wouldn't have to remove the whole bumper, but it's good to know....
