I mounted my once cergaret lighter plug, that had on, warning lights and mute button, onto the inside of the top of my steering column cover so it was more useful. It was a B!itch bit makes it more user friendly. here is a pic. please reply with comments of questions.

bro that looks nice. Did you use the hardwire kit or the coiled? Cause I see the coiled cord in the background.

Anyways here are pics of it in place. Cant mount perm. now due to problem with tail lights not coming on and I need to look stock when I take it to the dealer, click HERE for details on that fu$k up. Used coil that come with it. At first didnt want to but it worked very well. What a bitch to fit it in there but here is just enough room.

nice, looks great. What exactly does the mute button on a radar detector do? Stop it from making beeps, clicks, etc, or stop it from detecting? What is the purpose? Anyway, looks very clean, great work.

ayep. Basically, once you know that the cop is there, you don't want to hear that blaring beeping, so thats when you hit the mute.

That's a neat idea! This is completely off topic but has anyone turned that radar onto the loud setting? I mean the normal sound setting all the way up is deafening to me...

Not only does it mute the present alert but it also controls the volume from there by holding it down instead of having to reach over to the radar detector itself.

Yea the funny thing is Im now having to buy a new column cover along with defrost vent and hood fuse box cover so I can take my car to the dealer and not have to worry about BS. Oh well $50 to prevent them from denying me warentee work is worht it I guess. Pluss I ordered a cx-7 short antenna for $13.40 at online mazda parts.
Thanks for the reply. I dont really get this though.

I have only used the mute for present alert...but I never did look at the manual.
