My car is going in for tinting next week. I'm doing everything but the windshield and I want all the windows to be the same tint level. Since I live in New Jersey and the tint law says no tint at all on the driver/pasenger windows, I need to keep it modest. My choices are 50% and 35%. I think 35% has a pretty decent chance of getting me pulled over occasionaly, and depending on the town they may make me remove the driver/passenger tint on the spot. That said, I'm leaning toward 50% but can't find an example for comparison (my dark is steel gray). Can anyone help find a picture? Thanks.

The following is a good example of 40% tint. As you can see, it's still rather light. 50% is slightly lighter.

50% isn't even worth it. just makes the windows look dirty.....

i just got 35% all around (law in ohio is 50%). looks real nice, not too noticable yet you can definitely tell they're tinted.

Anyone know what the stock tint is on the 6? And any idea how this affects what else gets put on (i.e. - add 50% tint, but now it is actually 55, or 60 or 57.543)?

I know the limit here in IA is like 70% on the front. I was leaning towards a 50% also. I know it's not that dark, but I really don't want to be told I need to have it taken off.

My car is 50% on top of the factory tint, which I was told is minimal but enough to throw off the percentages. Anyways 50% is alright and I've never been hassled over it but it's definately not that dark. Check my garage for pics.

Here's a pretty accurate example of 50% on top of factory (Second pic especially).... Keep in mind that in some light conditions it will sometimes look darker but this is pretty much the lightest they'll ever look... As I’ve said in previous posts I can’t stand the scattered look and over here they’re pretty fussy as far as the front side windows are concerned (Mine are already concerned illegal but never been hassled yet)… So for me this was the way to go…

Almost forgot... Keep in mind that 50% looks real $hitty on a vehicle with light interior.... The guy who did my tint said that he had just done up a Legacy with beige interior that very morning and it really looked like crap in comparison, while it gave mine a nice classy look (His words not mine)... But I tend to agree!!!!

You wrote 35% tint on your garage. And it does look darker than 50% tint.
