Folks,
Just ordered the audiolink from Donny at RPM, cant wait to hook up my iPod now! Anyone from the northern half of the UK (Im from the north east) installed one of these? I'd be most grateful for help on installing this and would see you right for a few pints! Cheers, Jon-Paul. |

Sorry I'm not from the North but Suffolk. But I've fitted the AuxMod (tried the Dension Ipod Connection but it wouldn't work on the 04 Stereo with out a modification). The head unit removal is fairly simple and took me about twenty minutes. It is actually possible to reach the CD Changer port by just taking out the Glove box and using a small mirror and a torch to look at the back of the head unit.
But if you might need to take the headunit out to route the cable to a better place. One tip is to get plenty of cable ties and make sure that you tie the cable so it doesn't put any pressure on the port. Once I'd taken out the gear stick surround I had trouble getting the cigarette lighter back and working. The cable for the connector on the back of the socket was to short. I ended up cutting it splicing in another six inch cable and then putting a extra couple of sockets in to various places in car. I gave myself a day to do the mod in and it took me about two hours. If you look at the Mazda6Tech site they've got a great howto on removing the head unit. |
