Additional software for NAVTECH

Hi there,

I'm having a M6 (TRSI) with the Navtech navigation system and I was wondering if
there is a possibility to upload additional software to this system.

The reason why I ask this is that there exists software that gives the driver a warning just before passing an unmanned speed-control. This software has to be linked with a Navi-system. I was just wondering if it's possible with the Navtech.

BTW this is not an illegal system I saw it on the news yesterday but there a Palm handhold was linked with a navigation system. And that is something I Don't want to do because then I'm having 2 screens.

Hi Dagobert,

can you give me more info about this software??

I suppose this could be useful for fixed positions, but what about the stealth devices?

I'm interested too..................(obviously :D :D )

Of course it's only for the fixed scanners, the real radardetectors are illegal in belgium.

The software I'm interested in exists in the sytem Speedwarner.

their site : http://www.speedwarner.nl/

This system works with a palm linked to your GPS system of the car and then warns
the driver when approaching the speedcamera + the maximum speed is also indicated. It works with a list of locations of all static speedcamera's, in Belgium they are even provided by the goverment.

I've already conctacted navtech in the Netherlands but so far no news.

Oh, shh....out :D

It's in belgian language :rant :rant :rant

Anyway.....i guess it is available only for Palms 'cause they are an open system.

You can choose and install your preferred navigation software by yourself on the Palm, but it's not so on Navtech where you can only update the software with newer version.

I don't think it can be used on our Navtech.

See ya.

This kind of software is available for notebooks as well that have a gps receiver hooked up. But I doubt that Navtech and especially Mazda will make this available. The navigation software for the MZ6 nav system is even different than any other maps for "open" systems.

I want to die in my sleep just like my grandfather did and not screaming and yelling like his front seat passenger.

I've just received an mail from Navtech and they also say it's not possible in their current system. Perhaps there is a port on the hardware (from panasonic) where a cable can be connected to to capture the gps location info. This info can then be transferred to a palm top. I'm just thinking.

Does anyone know if there is a Port on the hardware ?

Uhmmm....i'm quite dubious about it, but let me rip my nav system and i tell you something.

I wanna try to hook up a car-computer on the original screen so i must pull out all the navi electronics for run the cables.Should be easy to check if on the back of navi chassis ther is a non used port.

From the diagrams of navigation system that i have it seems to be nothing, but for to be sure i have to open it.

If someone would like to have the schematics and the block diagrams of navigation system here is the link:

Cut and paste the address and you will find the diagrams.

See ya...

Well....

as i've seen, on the connector we have a lot of differents video signals, but to be honest they are not so clear.

We have R G B and COMPOS signals.I think this is the group of video signals 'cause they are the lonely four in green lines.
The others two lines, NV SYNC and REAR CAM should be the control signals for those two inputs.

As i can understand (but if i'm wrong someone please tell me) we have:

One video input for navigation system, that is R G B plus NV SYNC, the rbg input for navigation system plus its syncronism, and for this i don't know if it is a PAL or an NTSC protocol.

One video input named COMPOS, that i suppose to be for rear view cameras. In fact it is in composite format, not the best one for quality.
I think, but i haven't try yet, that this input can be selected when we apply a voltage on Rear_Cam input.

I know, talking with the service guy that has supply me the schematics, that a rear view camera connection is possible on our 6.He has also told me that with many probability we should have a connector in the trunk, just for connect the rear view camera easily.

'til now i haven't ripped out nothing, so if someone would like make this experiment...please report the result.

Any suggestion??
