Default revs high before shifting

Did some searching and couldn't seem to find what I was looking for so I figured I would ask. I have a 2005 mazda 6i automatic with approx 160k on it. A couple days ago the car began to rev up higher than normal before shifting into gear. Anyone have this problem before or know what it is?
Thanks,
Ryan

Bump. I would also like to know the answer to this. Even under moderate acceleration (on a scale of 1-5 2-3 , 1 barley on it/5 WOT) the engine will rev up to between 4K & 5K shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Also in manual mode, up shifting in first and second gear there is also about a 1K rpm reaction time for it to shift or sometimes it will go ahead and redline under moderate to heavier acceleration
