E-mail to Mazda USA regarding the source of the transaxle in the 2009 6s got a reply "it's Japanese"! Any of you folks out there who are more tech savy than me? If so, can you tell me if the Aisin AWTF 80-SC is, indeed, in the Mazda as I can find no other source? Thanks.

AWTF 80-SC = AW6A-EL

In the US, Aisin Drivetrain is located in Crothersville, IN. but from my research, the AW6A-EL transaxle in the V6 is built at Aisin AW Co., Ltd. - Anjo, Japan.
I'm a Production Engineer for Aisin Electronics (ECU's mainly for Toyota and GM).

Thanks for the responses and with the gear ratios meshing and the process of elimination, I figured as much. It's a fine unit!
