Thumbs up

I am extremely frustrated by two visits to the dealership here in Arlington without results.
On three different occasions since November in my brand new '09 Mazda 6 (<3050 miles) the car has been fine and then suddenly starts shaking and quaking and "pulling back" it seems --- hard to go faster, though who would want to, shaking like that? _ and it won't stop till I stop and start again.
No light comes on and it doesn't happen again for a few months.
Common factors seem to be: 1. curvy road; 2. maybe braking on and off; 3. going over 45, often around 63, and 4. after driving for at least 30 minutes.

Anyone else having this happen? Any ideas?

Which engine?

I'm in a '09 6s and haven't had that problem...but i also don't fit numbers 1 and 4 on your common factors.

hmmm... the autos have the Adaptive Shift Control from the RX-8...it holds gears in corners for faster exit. Think a software issue in that area could explain this?

sounds like you've kicked in the stability control system. A couple of your common factors:
1. curvy road
2. driving fast
combined with the results
a. pulling back
b. shaking and quaking.

well, after I started typing I see that you say it doesn't stop until you stop the car and start over. that sounds like a defect of some kind. Normally functioning systems release after the vehicle becomes stable.

Tell the dealer to check the mounting of the stabilty control sensor i.e. yaw rate sensor. hypothetically, if it were loose, or mounted on a flimsy bracket, it could vibrate on it's own and think that the car is driven wildly. The problem here is that if that's what it is, it should occur more than every few months.

you could also ask them to check the centering of the steering angle sensor. If that's off to one side, like if the wheel is pulled and repositioned, then the system can become more biased in one direction than the other.

Have you tried the override switch to see if it affects the outcome?
