Any suggestions or fixes? I am frustrated

I have a CX5 with exactly the same problem. I spoke with the dealership today who denied any knowledge of this being a recurring theme, I advised them to view this forum. I now have the inconvenience of having to let them have my car for the day when presumably they will disconnect the battery in the hope of fixing the issue.

It seems there would be a reboot on any computer, but the reboot on this one is disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it, not a very satisfactory solution when you are on the freeway and need your iPhone for navigation or just want to make a phone call or play some music.

Had exact same problem. I solved this by removing the fuses for the audio system for a couple of minutes. If i remember correctly it is fuse no 37 and no 38 (one 7.5A and one 15A fuse..consult your user manual. You'll see them in the manual as AUDIO1 and AUDIO2. This is also written on the inside of the fuse-box lid. Nothing was deleted or missing, and was done without the need for any tools.

Just ran into this problem for the first time with my 6, which is about 5 months old now. I'm tempted to take it to the dealer and make them "fix" it, simply so they're aware of the problem. But it's a pain in the ass and time out of my day, so I'll probably just do he disconnect/reconnect thing myself. It's the same thing they'll do, and it'll take me <5 mins instead of sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours...

Thanks to klistrian for the fuse idea. That sounds much better than disconnecting the battery since it won't reset the ECM or anything else in the car.

Pulling the fuses worked for me. No settings were lost. They are fuses number 38 (7.5A) and 44 (15A).

Just another addition to this fine thread. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I called the customer service number, they gave me a ticket number which I used to call my dealer. They replaced the module, BUT, its the same crappy experience of waiting a minute for everything to connect and so forth. I was sort of hoping that a new module would mean latest and greatest. Sadly no, same old shit... Should have just pulled the battery and plugged it back in. Oh well!

Did it fix anything else tho....for example, does it now remember the last track played and pick up where you left off...or is it still back to the first track everytime you start?

Thanks guys. Ive experienced ALL the other issues with this TERRIBLE infotainment system but only experienced this particular bug recently. I happened to try a different memory stick in the system and it wouldnt recognise it at all. When i put the irigional one back with a few extra albums it gave me this bug.
Fuses 38 and 44 fixed it for me.

Also prompted me to send yet another email to my Mazda dealer. However, at this stage, after 16 months of ownership and no fix on the horizon, i'm starting to think it will take an Audi dealer to fix this particular problem...trade in ASAP!

If you otherwise like the car just pull the head unit and replace it. The Pioneer NEX models are quite nice; I have a 4000 in my "6" and like it a lot.

That's a hell of a lot cheaper than taking the hit on a trade.

Obviously youre right.
But i had the car breakdown on me after three months and had to have it towed to a garage. I feel corners were cut with some very basic and obvious featured that should have been included considering i ordered the top of the line package. Add to that the refusal of Mazda to address the failings of the infotainment system two years after the car was launched!...
Just kinda fed up being treated like a fool really...bit fed up with Mazda's attitude.
