might seem like a dumb question- but what does the yellow warning light on the dashboard of my 2004 mazda 6 mean

its a symbol of a car skidding- my first assumption was that it is warning me that its cold and there may be ice on the roads- but i'm worrying its trying to warn me my break pads need replacing or something

anyone know?

If the light is on, you have problems with the traction control system. If the light just blinks intermittently while you are driving, it means that the system is activating and trying to prevent wheelspin.

and you're definelty reffering to the yellow symbol of the car skidding?- not the triangle with the exclamation mark in it

Yes it's the traction control. Also reading the manual helps.
