Hi guys,

i'm a total noob in car electrics or mecanics, yesterday i realized my lights were VERY low ... so this morning i checked them all to see if they were correct and here what i found!

If you look at the front of the car (mazda 6 2005 GTS) :

You have a 4 lights per side (4 left - 4 right)

Low - Flasher - unknown - high (MAZDA CREST) high - unknown - Flasher - Low

I realised that when i'm in night light, i have only the Low lights from both side that are on, all others are off!

If i put my high lights on, they turn on and it's ok, but my problem is on normal lighting is VERY low, is that normal that i have only both low lights on?

I have two unknowns, in the middle of the lights, i don't know if it's should be on or not, but they never turn on whatever i do with the light arm!

I'm sorry if i don't have the correct terms or english, i'm from Quebec and english is my second language!

I read all your GREAT topics about lighting, but i don't know which lights i should replace if at first i don'T even know which one is suppose to be ON or OFF

I checked all the fuse and they looks ok ...

Thanks a million for your help guys, have a great one!

The stock low beam lighting on our mazdas sucks taht s why i upgraded to the silvania sylverstars as soon as I bought my car. as for the unknowns those can be used to fog lights and the USDM model doesnt come quipped with those hence the ones in your bumper if equipped with them.

Hope that answers a part of your question at aleast

FWIW, silverstars do not work for most of us 6 owners. Some have luck, but most experience the silverstars burn out in 2 months time or so. I personally went with OSRAM which is the across the pond equivalent of silverstars and they seem to have kept lit for about a year now.

The outer lights are indeed the low beams. The ones used for regular night driving. The "middle ones" that you are referring to are for the integrated fog lamps, which some of the 6's come equipped. If you do not see any wires leading to that assembly, then you most likely do not have that option.

That is why most here go and install the HID route. They are brighter, and most of the HID kits sold here by RPMstore.com and xenonexpert have lifetime warranties on the ballasts and bulbs.

Thanks a lot guys,

i was worried that i should have another light turn on at night driving, but your words says that the low-beams are the only one on so i'll take it from there!

Since they're very low ... i'll contact a local specialist to install an HID kits ... do you have any recommendations on these kits, there's a lot of them ...

Thanks a lot again ...

Take a look at the HID kits offered at theRPMstore.com And compare the brands. Or do a search here, there are TONS of HID threads, that vary from which kit to which color. GL

Haha I hope it did indeed help! But if you do have any questions on the install process, you can always post in the electrical threads (granted you read all the stickies first lol) or send a message to Oliver at xenonexperts.com, who is also a sponser her along with Falcontx, who works for therpmstore.com.

Just go with the DDM brand. They're a trusted brand here and among many other car enthusiasts. They are backed by a lifetime warranty as well.
