I have an 09 6i GT with HIDs. They have manual leveling and are not the adaptive type (like Euro models or the new 3).

I hate the overly restrictive cutoff of the HIDs. On some of the rural, hilly roads I drive at night it can be a white knuckle cruise.

I used a long neck phillips head screw driver and kicked them up a few degrees.

Works great. Much more confident drive at night with the extra light thrown a few more feet ahead of the car. I use the manual leveling adjustment to turn them down when I'm in the city.

when i first installed my HID's, they were aimed pretty much at the street and didn't project as far as my stock halogens did. a little adjustment and.....PERFECT.

edit: just noticed this was 2nd gen....oh well

Be carefull so your not blinding the oncoming drivers, because your headlights are aimed too high.

X2 --- hids have a restrictive cutoff for a reason . . . "it burns us!".

I'm happy with the setup - the hids stay on when you put on high-beams, so there's no loss having them at the proper location.

. . . That's why I take advantage of having the level adjuster. IMO the high beams are very weak. They don't do much to help visibility on the rural roads on which I drive. I've kicked up the HIDs a few degrees and use the level adjuster to keep them aimed down when in the city. It's made driving at night BFE much more confidence inspiring.

I use the level adjuster in my car. I keep them on the highest setting all the time. I've never been flashed by oncoming traffic. I've even stood in front of the car a hundred feet or so and it still seems well below anything that would blind someone. When I lower the headlights, they cutoff maybe 30 feet in front of the car. I almost didn't buy the 6 until I learned they headlights could be leveled.
