Hey gurus. I just bought my new 2009 6 two months ago. Mine came with the factory installed Blue tooth option but no satellite radio (non Nav system version). I was loving streaming music from my phone via Blue Tooth into the system and using the aux connection for my ipod, everything was working fine until I decided to have the dealer install the Sirius satellite module. The satellite radio works great, however once this was installed the AUX input and the blue tooth stereo stopped working (the mono phone blue tooth feature is still working fine).

Once I took the car back into the delership they told me that I had to purchase the Ipod integration kit to make it all work. Of course when I picked up the car, the IPOD works great now, but the BT stereo and the AUX port are still dead. From looking at the install manual that came with the Sirius radio it looks like I did not need the integration kit to make it work. The manual also references the special connection from the BT/AUX connection going into the Integration Kit module and then to the radio, so it looks like to me that the dealer screwed up the wiring (imagine that). When I asked the dealer about that they of course had no clue and told me that they would have to call in their support line.

My question is, does anyone have a similar setup working? From everything that I'm seeing it should work fine, even if the AUX port is dead now, I'm ok with that but I would really like the BT stereo back if possible. The radio does recognize the BT, AUX and IPOD settings when pressing the AUX button so it seems like it should work.
Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Looks like you've got a classic "Car Stealership" -- the Honda dealers in this area are like that.

I don't know about what setup you've got to start with, but I've got all of that stock. I've got a BOSE system etc.

In an effort to help without knowing the actual trouble, the following comes to mind which may give someone else enough information to help you:
1) Is your stock system Bose or non Bose?
2) Which model/trim/etc. do you have (which options if you built it from mazda.com)?

My supposition would be that the stereo only supports one "in" and the modules either can or can not be daisy-chained such that you can cycle through them (sort of like how pioneer does with their proprietary interface). Either way, it sounds like the dealer doesn't know what they're doing because they either hooked it up wrong or should have alerted you to start with.

Is there another dealership in your area, even if it's somewhat out of your way?

If you're desperate and need a straight answer, call Colonial Mazda (877-748-8700) -- ask for Service and Jeremy (he's the service manager). Explain you're from out of the area, but one of their customers told you to call because they've given good service and they'd give you a straight answer. He won't remember me by name, but I've gotten a ton of really straightforward answers from him and he doesn't usually think my questions are too odd

In the end (sorry, on my soapbox for a second) a good dealer makes or breaks a car. If a dealer does right by you and doesn't screw around with you, the car doesn't have to be perfect. Cars cost a lot - these people make a living off of you . . . a LOT of dealers forget that.

Good luck.

-Ernie

By the way, if you get adventuresome and want to check part #s under the dash, let me know, I'll crawl under mine and give you what I can find.

Thanks so much for the reply. Yeah, I have not been too happy with the dealership service, although I did get a great deal on the car. I might have to take up your suggestion and try finding another dealer. Unfortunately here in Louisville KY, this place is the only one in town.

Not so sure about the radio, I do not think its the Bose though. Info straight out the sticker: 2009 Mazda 6 I Sedan Grand Touring. I have the convenience package which has the AM/FM/CD Stereo with 6 speakers, Mp3 Playback capability, Sirius Satellite Radio compatible audio, Blue Tooth Audio and Phone.

Maybe calling the dealer you suggested might be an option tomorrow. I'm going to try to talk to the service manager and show him the schematics of where it shows the AUX/BT connection and have him show me that they actually did hook it up.

Thanks.

No moon roof = no bose. Lucky man. I hate to be "one of those guys" --- but most entry level aftermarket stereos have all those features now and it's a snap to change them out.

You're already into it for what they charged you, so I understand not wanting to throw more money at it. Someone told me a long time ago "You can mess up your car stereo yourself, or you can pay someone to mess it up for you". Next car, consider doing a swap yourself, you may be surprised.

As for this issue, please let everyone know how it turns out . . . maybe it will help the next guy.

It has a been a while but I have an update. Finally my problem was fixed! It took the dealer 2 tries and 3 days worth of work. Talk about new technology. The problem turned out to be the harness that was used during the initial satellite radio install. According to the dealer the harness that was used for the satellite radio kit did not have the necessary wiring for the blue tooth connection. They said that even the engineers with mazda had a hard time realizing what the problem was. I had to lend my blue tooth enabled phone to the dealer so they could troubleshoot. I guess the part numbers were also an issue and had to be changed in the computer system used by the parts people so that they could identify this setup in the future. No charge obviously, got a rental car in the meantime and got a free oil change out of the deal (I know it was absolutely the minimum I could get out of the hassle). I was ready to take the car to another dealer but finally complained loud enough...

Glad you got it fixed, but that's ridiculous that it took so long.

NOT confidence instilling from a dealer

TexasEx - so after all was said and done, you have the iPod integration module installed and working.

Question for you - I understand that the iPod integration enables the steering wheel controls to control the iPod. Does it also use the information display on the dash to show the artist/song?

Thanks.

Mine simply shows "iPod" on the info display. The artist, album, and song title are on the main screen of course.
Sucks when you're suing the NAV and you want to know the song title, though.

I sold it. I bought the wrong one and just haven't purchased the correct one yet.

Wish I could build my own system that included an 8 inch screen, DVD capability, NAV with spoken turn-by-turn and street names, back up cam, iPod integration, running on a stable OS connected to Wifi or even a built in "hotspot" and still keep the stock controls around the screen.
