I took my HID's out yesterday because i was tired of them not working half the time. Like Saturday the passanger side on was not doing anything. Not even trying to come on. Then yesterday morning it came right on again.
A few weeks ago the drivers side would flicker and not stay on without turning them off and back on a few times.

So now i have the halogens back in. I was wondering what brighter bulbs are the best ones. I know that the Silver Star line is complete crap.
But what about the sylvania ultra vision?
Does anyone know how long they last.

The other choice is the Phillips line.
I know they have a bright one but don't know what one.

PIAA's were bright and had good color. Lasted 1 year and a couple of days.

Nokya Cosmic whites have great color and dismal output. Even with the upgraded harness. I do not believe their claim that they are 80watt bulbs.

Silverstars have always lasted between 12 and 18 months for me. (based on 9006 and 9005 bulbs in my Integra) Good output but I have yet to have a set last.

APC bulbs lasted a LONG ass time in my ED3 Civic. Bright but cast a horrible cop-bait blue glow. (and that is the only APC product I will ever recommend and it is done with the cop-bait blue warning. Seriously, the blue is a bit overwhelming. I think they might have been 100 watt bulbs but I never cooked the harness)

I am thinking of trying Hellas next.

Phillips are rated well, but most I've found must be shipped from The U.K.

The other ones i like is the GE Night Hawk. I had them for over a year in my old Sunfire before we got rid of it.
They were brighter then the stock bulbs. I did put the dim old stockers back in when it was traded. But they or 9007 so they won't work for the 6.

I bought Osram Nightbreakers from powerbulbs.co.uk

They're the brightest bulb I've ever used.

According to lighting guru Daniel Stern:

QUOTE
Quote:
The H1 +50 bulbs from the big four reputable European bulb makers (Philips VisionPlus, Osram SilverStar, Narva RangePower+50, Tungsram Megalicht) are functionally identical. When we pick ten samples of each and put each one through photometric, optical comparator, and life tests, there's a very narrow range of performance and life differences, and those differences are randomized among the four brands.[/b]
And here's (click) what Stern has to say about "superwhite" bulbs like PIAA's.

C'mon. Give me my one pointless asthetic mod. In a world full of goofy wings and body kits, my halogen bulbs are almost tasteful.

And I don't care what the antagonist from Home Alone says. My PIAA bulbs offered better illumination than a regular 55w H1. In fact, the Silverstars were noticeably better than regular 9005/9006 bulbs. I just wish they lasted longer or were less expensive.

...and stamped on the bottom of the Sylvania Silverstar H1s? OSRAM GERMANY.

Osram purchased the Sylvania assets from GTE some years back. Sylvania has been an Osram brand name for a long time.

I recently installed philips x-treme power bulbs. They are now available in the h1 size from http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/product_detail.asp?prod=160 They are the brightest 55 watt h1 available, slightly brighter than the osram nightbreakers. They are also slightly brighter and throw more light foward than my previous bubls, the philips vision plus 50. You can see by this pic the light it puts out, sorry, n82 cell phone pic [attachment=44380:11102009071__2_.jpg]
