I had my Mazda dealer install a remote start in my 2009 Mazda 6. It does start the car out in the parking lot, but when I open the door the engine shuts off requiring me to restart the car again. I've had OEM remote starters on my 2001, 2003 Tributes and on my 2007 Mazda 6 and they did not work this way. The dealer says that this is the way it works. Does anyone know if this is really the case. It just does not seem right. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, the stock remote start is designed to turn off when you open the door or step on the brake...i think it even stops if you open the trunk.
Yes, it's annoying and I wish mine would stay running.
