Default OBD-II Connector Problem w/Autoenginuity

I bought the Autoenginuity Scantool but it cannot connect. The service department is closed. But it looks like the pins on my car are not lined up correctly. Could someone take a picture or draw the locations of the pins on your OBD-II connector in your car so i can compare them to mine? It seems like mine is bunched up to one side and none of the pins line up with the Autoenginuity scantool. I KNOW there is a lot of you who have this tool and gotten it to work. Arg...i want to read my transmission failure code.

I have the CAN adapter on my autoenginuity tool BTW.

Here is what my Connector looking foward at it. Colors represent wire colors.

Here is the Autoenginuity pin locations looking forward at the scantool.

For the top row, only the Black, Red, and Green are connected
For the bottom row, only the Blue, and Blue/Red are connected.

The Black/LightBlue and Blue/Red/Silver pins aren't connected.

The top row should be CAN and not all the pins are connected.

I'm not entirely sure that ALL the pins have to be connected.

One thing to check, what did you select as the connection type? You want to keep it on Auto or choose CAN. There is an option for Ford PWJ or something like that. Don't choose that one. I made that mistake once.

Maybe try to connect with the car either on but not started and on and started?
I don't know. Maybe you just got a defective one.

Nice illustrations by the way! :)

Maybe Mazda changed something for 04? Don't see why. Try to find an 04 owner that has one.

Wel I called Jay at Autoenginuity on Saturday and he thinks the ScanTOOl Can Bus is defective. Since it works with my GM 2002 Chevy Impala, he is suspiscios. Also, the software finds the connector so power is good. Jay thinks teh CAN bus board is not working and he going to test out my tool personally. He is going to make sure that it works on the RX-8 he has before he sends it down to me again.

Yeah I selected CAN.

What are you using to interface? Palm, PocketPC, or PC?

If you are using a Palm or Pocket PC, I assume Jay has had you re-try it numerous times. I was the first Mazda6 owner with the AutoEnginuity and found that it can take numerous attempts to get a connection.

No i got the PC version, couldn't wait for the PocketPC one :)

It is determined by Jay that my Scantool Can bus was defective and sent me another one. The new one works and now I have read the codes on my car. Too bad no one has a clue what P203 and PC121 means. :(
