That's very impressive. I looked them up on the Ford web site when they were first released and I was highly disappointed that they only came with an automatic transmission. Older Taurus SHO cars from 15-20 years ago had a five-speed option. Why not a five or six-speed now? One could only hope...

Americans don't want manuals-- they get in the way of cell phones, applying makeup, reading books, eating cereal, and all the other "activities" that take place while driving.

The sad part is that the auto transmission is a deal breaker for many enthusiasts (including me), which means many people who would otherwise be interested in the car will go elsewhere. Then, the marketing people will erroneously conclude that there is no market for fast cars, and go back to catering to the car-as-an-appliance market that is happy driving boring, terrible cars.

That car weighs as much as a SUV. Fuck that.

SPOT ON
Welcome to the beginning of the end of the Automotive Enthusiast.
The car is slowly being converted into a mindless people mover with
more accent on entertaining the passengers with gadgets, rather
than with driving the car itself.

Whoa is me.....

I've always heard that not offering M/T in certain high performance cars (especially AWD) reduces the number of warranty claims to have abused drivetrains repaired. They don't want to spend the $ to put durable AWD drivetrain components in them like Audi or Porsche, so they take away your ability to do high-rpm clutch drops. Ford probably took the reliability lessons from the 270hp MS6 and decided against a M/T for the 365hp Taurus.

the sho series hasnt had a manual in quite some time
and the autos sold better than the manuals
so they cut their losses with the manuals

12.7 is a fast family hauler no matter how you slice it. Price is the killer in my book. Much like the Hyundai Genesis. Doesn't matter how nice it is, I'm not buying a Taurus or Hyundai for that kind of $$$.

Car&Driver said the Taurus SHO was faster than the Audi RS6... and its 1/2 the price. Well worth it IMO
