I have a 2003 Mazda 6 - 6 cylinder, bought with every available option at the time of purchase in January 2003. I had Honda Accords for 13 years prior to that without any problems. The reason I switched brands is that I felt for my new car budget, I got MUCH more car with the Mazda 6. I would have bought another Accord........but geezzzzzzzzz they are ambitiously priced because of the high demand and I just couldn't justify the extreme price change between my 1995 and the 2003 model.
I had never heard of the Mazda 6, they had only debuted 2 months before in my area. I went to the dealer to look at a Tribute......the thing CAUGHT MY EYE, the second I walked onto the showroom floor and after almost 2 years of driving it............I still love the styling of this vehicle. I get all the looks and comments, more so than ANY vehicle I've ever owned and I've owned many in my years of driving. (I never even drove the Tribute!!) On the downside, as my topic says.............I just got my girl back from the dealer after having a new transmission installed after 34,000+ miles. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH..............I have suffered many many new model issues with the car..............though the looks of it have held up, the mechanics have been disappointing. I will say that the key to my continued loyalty with the brand is the absolute wonderful service I have received from my dealership. They have advocated MANY times on my behalf with Mazda without any pressure from me to do so. At about 20,000 miles...........I had all my brake hardware replaced on the front because of a very irritating noise............now I have a new transmission........hopefully these annoying issues will extend the life of my car as my intent is to drive it to 100,000 miles or so. What I would recommend is get yourself a good service department that will LISTEN to you and work to resolve your issues even if it means they have to get it done through Mazda. If you are not satisfied with the dealer you bought the vehicle from.............go to another one until you find a good match. As a woman, I am not so much into the techie parts of the car and its' inner workings................I want a nice looking, sporty, problem free car that I can put gas in and have routine maintenance done on. I even bought the black model as it matches all my clothes! LOL So I will close by saying............do yourself a favor and find the magic service department..............you will eliminate 99% of your aggravation if you do so!! BTW, I am a new member but have found this forum to be very interesting and helpful. Keep up the good work!

Interesting...I purchased my car in feb of 03. I also have had the transmission replaced. I am curious if you were in a 4 or 6 cylinder. I had to have mine replaced at 42,000. I am glad everything turned out well.

6 cylinder...........my car was number 6142 off the assembly line..........something I didn't know that the service order pointed out to me was that the last digits of your VIN number indicate which number you were off the assembly line.........interesting............
My vehicle( I have the dual transmission - you can either drive in auto or manual) was shifting while in auto mode HARD into second gear.......so hard that I have looked repeatedly into my rearview mirror thinking I got rearended! When I took it in to have it looked at...........I figured they would do some adjustment.......I was totally shocked when they said they were replacing the transmission after running it through all the diagnostics.......... I've probaby put 200 miles on it both city and hwy since getting it back...........seems to be working better than ever...... |

Welcome TwistedSista. I'm new here too. Glad to hear your car is working fine. I hope nothing like that happens to my car. Only time will tell......I have about 400 miles on my car. Does anyone know if Madza had any recalls on the 2004 Mazda 6 si. I hope not. The last thing I need is a mechanical bug in my car!!
-Welcome once again-

Wow, this transmission failure thing's kinda got me worried, mine's an 03 ATx 6s.
Is there any way that Mazda could deny me a new replaced transmission if mine goes out b/c of any of the mods I've done ? Mainly the CP-E MAFci ? That's got me all worried now !

common black, even you've been reading these forum for a little bit now, and you should know, they only way they can deny the warranty is if the mod is the direct cause of the failure.
