Whats up guys? Ive had my 04 mazda 6 for a couple weeks now, and since I got it theres been a minor problem. Where the time, temperature, radio station, and volume numbers are I cant read. Certain things are cut off, for example, if the time was 4:40 it might look more like 1:10. When I turn the volume up I cant even see what level its at, and the radio station channel is hard to make out as well. The weird thing is sometimes one number will appear, and another wont, a 5 might be clear one minute then when it shows up again I cant make it out, but it doesnt alwas look the same. Another weird thing is I noticed when I start my car in the morning every single number is clear, and can be read, but if I start it up a couple hours later its unclear. I can take a picture if you guys dont know what Im talking about.
But what do you all think the problem could be? Any solutions? Would it be best to call Mazda and talk to them? Thanks |

It is a pretty common problem. To fix it you must replace the display screen. Not sure how much a new one costs, but I think it's around $150 or 200.
Mine is so bad that I cannot even read it unless I press down on the dashboard right above the display screen. I'm actually going to order a new one tomorrow. The only thing I want to know is how to take it out so I can install the new one.

Mine has gone completely out also. Sometimes if I disconnect the negative cable on my battery for a little while and hook it back up, the display will work again for a couple of days. I found a local body shop that can order a new display for $110. The dealership wants $300+

on how to take it out I would follow the how tos on the metra kit for changing the radio as it comes with a new display unit...might actually be a good time to move to the kit since they will give you a new display thingy in the kit
