So I have 09 6 GT w/ bose, I just picked up a metra dash kit and metra wire harness. I'm looking to just replace the head unit with a Alpine CDA-9885. I see some post about bose wiring color and non- bose wire color and I'm not sure what actually apply to what I'm trying to do. I would like to still use the bose speakers and everything entil I have enough money to replace out everything. But Just for now the headunit. If I follow metra's guide for the head unit will I be fine for getting the speakers to run properly or do I need to do anything addition. I would like the whole 10 speaker system to work if possible, but need to also know what happens if I just hook it up. Thanks for the help. I'll post pictures on the steps I took to install, just to help other out in the future as well.

Also if you are able to chat for a while, ill be on Windows Live Messenger, solidussnake139@yahoo.com message me there if ya wanna help me out. Thanks

I'm toying with buying a 2009 Mazda6i Grand Touring with the Bose system. I installed an Alpine ida-X100 HU in my 06 6s w/Bose using the Metra kit. It was a lot of wiring, but it looks and SOUNDS great. Can someone point me to the previous 2009+ Mazda6 HU thread or get me in touch with Ernie. I'm trying to research the wiring needed to move my existing HU to a 09+ Mazda6 w/Bose. I'm assuimg I could also use my existing PAC SWI-JACK module to conrtol my HU from the steering controls, as in my current 6. It'd also be cool to see some before/after pics of someone who's already done the deed on a new 6.

Thanks..

JH

You'd actually have to send me something for me to get it

Finally got a SECOND metra kit; first one is very scratched up, not going to install it until I'm totally done.

Andy was actually a huge help with getting mine in place. Pics are NOT up to date but here:

Since I updated that I've managed to re-integrate the aux-in, added dual-dvds in the back for the boy, re-ran the speaker wires (FINALLY) ---- have an unhooked up basslink mounted on a removable table in the trunk and a new amp and crossover on my dining room table ----- something about having not run that distribution block yet. d'oh!

I've sort of ditched the idea of putting new 6.5" 2-ways in the rear deck (where the 3" were) by cutting a gaping hole and REALLY want that Alpine automatic EQ jobbie (for $340!).

I can dig up more pics if something specific is needed.

Lift straight up at all corners. There is a plastic guard that starts at the bottom and curves up along the driver side to protect the lid when it is open. Last time I took mine out, this guard got hooked on the inner edge of the center console and made it a bitch to get out.
Try pulling it at a slight angle so the driver side comes out first.

After the first time it sticks, it will ALWAYS stick. Try what Mike said first, then try this:
"pop" all 4 corners, lift the driver's side enough to get your fingers in there (facing down), drop it back down as far as you can, pry towards you, then bypass the lip

The DVD is Vizualogic - they're direct replacements, and allow you to actually have better head restraints than stock (they tilt/ratchet forward. I had these done at the same time as my wife's 09 Tribeca Ltd. . . .

In retrospect, I could have had a 55" LED TV . . . . that's not a typo L.E.D.

Oh Well, it's for the boy. You can basically migrate them for about $300 to a new vehicle by getting new shells from Vizualogic.
