I just bought a 2009 Mazda 6i a couple of months ago. I drive 55 miles to work and my satellite radio is always cutting in and out making it unbearable to listen to. I contacted Sirius and they said this was not normal and that they have been receiveing calls about the new Mazda's. They recommended having the dealer replace the antenna in which they did but it did not help. The dealership denied anything was wrong until I brought a DVD in showing 10 minutes of what I have to deal with!
Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know what else showing be replaced? |

In my city, I've never had a problem unless there was a line of sight issue. However, I have been in a couple other cities and had it happen when I've had an open view of the sky. I just down know if it's worth the trouble of having the antenna replaced since I don't really have a major issue. I'm interested to see what you find out.

I also don't have any problems outside of the normal obstructions that cause satellite radio to drop out.
I used to have XM in my previous car before I got my Mazda. It dropped out in all the same situations such as under thick trees (but only for a moment), under bridges, near very tall buildings, etc. Anything that blocks the line of sight to the satellite or the ground relay station you may be receiving from will cause you to loose signal. I haven't had any problems with rain, clouds, or otherwise. I recently drove about 1700 miles round-trip and enjoyed the satellite radio the entire way. If I were going to take a guess, I would say poor antenna placement on the car. They wanted to put it on the trunk on mine. I told them no and asked them to put it on the roof which I think looks and works better. Where are you located? Remember the satellite is in orbit over the equator. If you drive to work is mostly southbound, you live up north, and you put it on the trunk then you will likely have issues since the car's metal roof is getting in the way. The antenna works best when it has at least 2 inches of metal in all directions and mounted on the roof on the centerline of the car. |

The issue was a faulty satellite receiver box. My reception is much better now and even flawless some days. Thank you all for your post.
