Hello,

I searched all the forums before posting and was hoping that someone here could help me.

I frequently am on calls and the person on the other end says that they cannot hear me very well "you sound like you're in a washing machine"...

Searching the web has not proven fruitful and i was hoping that the folks here have some tips for me to improve the quality of the connection.

Thanks in advance.

Rick

Hello and Welcome...

A couple people have reported some problems and there's a topic going on here:

http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=109821

So far it sounds like it's been hit and miss and no definitive solution yet. I'd start by deleting all your BT pairing on your phone and then try to set it up again. Also, see if the quality improves by placing the phone in different areas of the car (i.e. driver's door, your pocket, cup holder, dash, etc.). The dealer told me the key operates off a close BT frequency to some phones, so you should never have them in the same pocket. Also, see if you can try pairing someone else's phone with your car to see if gets the same issue.

I had an old cell phone and headset that had clarity problems. Took 2 phones and 3 headsets before they paired without static. I think part of it is just BT technology.

If something works for you, make sure to post it.

thanks for the response, I read the thread you posted and it is about interference that the person in the car is hearing (hissing) but my issue is more about the people I call.

I have resorted to increasing the volume of the call (it sounds perfect to me) so that it is so loud that it almost hurts. The person on the other end will tell me that they are still having a problem hearing me or that it sounds like I'm under water.

Increasing the volume on your end wont make their side of the call any louder.

just to add...
i own a 2009 Mazda 6 i with the conveinance pack (so it has the bluetooth, leather-cloth seats, BSM mirrors etc...) and i just got the newest iPhone OS 3.0 beta that just came out and now supports A2DP streaming.
It works flawlessly in the mazda after syncing it as a music device.

for a video of this in action check out this:

No problems with either a Blackberry Pearl or a Curve (work phone)

I've noticed this too. I used to have a nokia that did not connect well at all. Now I have a BB Curve (8900) and like you've said, I also get people telling me they cannot hear me well... "Sounds like you're a million miles away". I've noticed that the bluetooth connection drops sometimes and immediately reconnects. Maybe its because I keep the phone in my left pocket. I'll try putting it in the cup holder so its more centered in the car.

Do you have the windows open or the HVAC blowing? Either of these can/will make it difficult for the person on the other end to hear you. Same goes for automated voice response systems including the car's own voice dialing.
