I was getting tired of that scuz in my engine compartment so i figured I'd hit it with some Simple Green. I wet it down when it was just warm and gave it a good spray with Simple Green. I gave everything a quick rub with a soft bristled brush and after 3 min or so I hit it lightly with a HP washer to rinse. I blew out most of the sitting water with a small compressor. Looks like new !........til the winter anyways.

wow, looks great... did you cover anything before washing?

hit the bay with some type of hyper dressing and then wipe it down, makes it look even better and keeps dirt from sticking...

I read somewhere in here that people were spraying tire dressing on everything. Anyone try it ?

Didn't cover anything but I also didn't keep the spray on anything long esp. the electrical components. No problems afterwards whatsoever.

Definitely looks good. Hmm.. you've inspired me, I think I'll do an engine shampoo next time I wash my car.

Did mine on Friday. You could eat off of it right now. I too also use Simple Green on mine.

If you want a nice finishing touch, get some NON oily tire dressing and give it the once over. I do it on mine and it makes a big difference. I look for a (name) brand that states it is safe for types and finishes of wheels.

Put it this way....

I want to do it as well, but how about HID ballasts? Are they going to be fine after I wash everything?

If your worried, just wrap a plastic bag around the area when you rinse off. The actual Simple Green wash down is pretty safe, it's the rinse off that you have to watch I think. Keep in mind that the engine bay is designed to get wet to some degree. Go for it, it will look great.
