Well, just something I felt like sharing with you guys. It was quite funny at the end of it all.

Parked the car at work today, and was certain I put the handbrake on (I'm sure you can see where this is going) and locked the car etc. Went over to talk to some mates who were finishing their lunch break too and so I was about 15-20 metres from the car. Anyway, one of the guys turns around and says CHRIS YA CARS ROLLING FORWARD!!! so I sprinted over and couldn't get there in time, it was heading straight for a brick wall...luckily our carpark is quite small and the brick wall was not even 10m from where the car was parked, so it didn't get much speed up anyway. So it hit the wall (I would have been crushed anyway) and rolled back again, getting ready for a 2nd run, anyway got in the car and stopped it!

Anyway, I find out the handbrake was on! Maybe not enough but it was up a fair way! So I rang Mazda and told them I want it tightened! Should have put it in gear but I didn't...sometimes I do, sometimes I don't! Anyway, I got back out to check the front, there was absolutely no structural damage to the car except for a cut and polish job which can hardly be seen anyway, and the number plate copped the force and pretty much straightened itself up! Looks better anyway!

So I was quite lucky in the end and I suppose the front bumpers are quite strong after all!

Anyone got any experiences they'd like to share?

My only experience was the dog stratching the crap out of my bumper paint work about the 3rd week I had the car. $150 for the resprayed section later......

But apart from the odd shopping centre dent and scratch it still looks pretty good.

Had a Ford falcon hire car previously who's handbrake didn't work. if you left it on the slightest slope it would roll if in neutral. The only thing holding it stationary was leaving the gears. I'm guessing people had been doing too many handbrake turns in it. :-)

Good to hear that your car isn't damaged as bad as it could have been. Luck was on your side today.

Curious....what's the story behind your username - Master Chief?

Yep, spot on, that's really all there is to it! That, and every game I play online games, I use that name. So it kind of sticks and makes it easier to remember usernames et lol

If anyone here does online gaming, I play Spearhead, COD:UO, BF2 and some CS:S

lol if you don't know what those games are, then never mind hehe

Ok, so who parks their MTX on handbrake only? Shouldn't the car be placed in gear (1st) with handbrake on in addition?

Just wondering.

I always park with it in either 1st or reverse gear + handbrake, depending on the slope.
