Hi
My name is Taka and recently Mrs. Taka is talking about buying a family car (gasp?! My 8 isn't one??). She has a Barina now and she likes the Mazda 6.We were looking at the 6 hatch today. Very nice. Have not try driving it yet Now I have question for the 6 guru. 1. What is a good deal in Melbourne? 2. Should I wait for the facelift? 3. How crazy does the people mod their car. 4. I have a spare 18" for my wife's further 6 (from my RX-8). What is the stock wheel offset (for Classic)? (I am too lazy to search ).Thanks in advance. I will keep reading all things in this site ZoomZoom Taka |

Hey Taka,
welcome to the club (even though all us aussies are quiet as mice )1. i dunno im from sydney 2.yes if i were u id wait for the facelift. even though most of us approve of the original design, we are yet to see our aussie/jap update and rumors on the mechanical side is its got 5 speed auto or 6 speed man. And chances are even if its the same as the american facelift ur wife wont mind it. 3.people in general dont mod their 6, i guess they moderatly mod it. Things like new wheels, brakes, lowered suspension, exhaust, air intake, exhaust manifold, sound system and lights are usually the extent of mods ( i blame these tame mods on most people wanting to keep their new car warranty) 4.nup...im not gunna tell ya the offset dont be lazy but i will say the rx-8's will fit...but still uve gotta find the offset to double check

Thanks mate.
I searched everywhere in this site and only the 17"x7 has a offset of +60. Also seen the picture of the 6 with RX-8 wheel. It looks nice . I think I will wait for the facelift, even if it is still a 4 speeder. I think they will be doing big discount to clear out the stock if they were going to bring out the 5 speed auto/6 speed manual. We are aiming at the Classic Hatch. GG is the code for sedan and GY is the code for the wagon. I wonder if the facelift changes that. It usually does. |

welcome taka!
if price isnt a big consideration, i'd wait for a facelift myself. the update engine is meant to be more economical plus we're most likely gonna be getting the 5-spd auto with a refreshed interior. about modding, a former member Kuning made some huge mods to the aestetics of his car so im happy to get in touch with him if u want to speak to somebody who's done the whole shabang on the car. and i see you're in Melbourne! yay, another melbourne member! perhaps we can finally have a melbourne meet, me, you, MrPayner, and Kuning and others! keep us posted Taka. alex |
