Hey there everyone. I have a 2004 mazda 6 s and about a week ago my car decided to not crank up, and my first thought was the starter. I put a new one in and it still wasn't starting. So the next thing I thought to try was the battery. Got the new battery in last night, and when i went to leave this morning, it wouldn't engage any of the gears. I guess it's kinda hard to explain, but when I press the brake in, and go to shift, the shifter will move through the track no problem, but it wont actually shift to R, N, D, etc. it will just stay in park. I searched to see if anyone else was having the same issue, found one guy but no resolution on that one. Any help is appreciated!
As for the transmission, most likely the problem is in the shifter linkage - the bits that connect the shifter in the car to the transmission itself which moves the selector.
