hello all, i really appreciate if you could tell me what other ATF rather then M-V can i use for my 5-speed autogear box

i'd like to know if M-V really is a mercon 5 fluid made by idemitsu? (at least in singapore).M-V note
or is it something else like DEXRON or other type of fluid?
are there any other manufacturers fluid that are compatible? say red line? or toyota's ATF?

i realised that M-V ATF oxides very easily. so i would like to know if there are any alternatives.
and will that alter the smooth gear shifts or damage the clutch packs?

cheers mates!

Hey man, you are here as well as in the Singapore forum.

I'm using Royal Purple full synthetic and so far no issues. I did around 10,000 kms on it so far and it still looks as clean as the day it was put in.

Yup, the shift is clean and sharp. I will be driving down to Singapore sometime in August....do you know if there are any TT's arranged during that month? I would not mind catching up with you guys to see what you have going on there.

The price for the RP XPR was RM 98.00 per litre (quart) but there are extra costs for the engine flushing and chemical flush as well to ensure all the mineral based oil is removed. Not sure if it is dexron or mercon, maybe the RP website have the answers.

TT is teh tarik lah bro.....when the Mazda guys meet up for a drink and a chat. I think I read in the SG forum that your club meetings were a set date each month.....are they well attended?

I use Redline D4, with some Lubeguard in my 5 spd. ATX, and it seems to work fine.

wow, at RM98, its quite alot! in singapore can get for $18.50. perhelps lesser if getting in a box (of 12).might wanna check this out. prices

its the same price as redline too. maybe i shall try to work it out if its the same costs as the M-V fluid.

i'm not too sure about their hang outs, as i just acquired my mazda only in march, i haven't hung out with them.

and Ericzoom, theres a D4 and a D6, is D4 the only appropriate one?

cheers to all

Hey mate, no worries, I will check with some of the longer serving members to see if they know the schedule.

That price is not for the XPR type, that is for regular SAE. The XPR is a little more expensive I think.
