Hi, just looking for some insight on what’s going on in my car. Its a Maz 6 2004 3.0 wagon with 44,000 mi. It’s had a trany flush last year. No problems since owning it for 2 years.
Symptom: When coasting in any gear and go to hit the gas (not hard) the car buckets a couple of times. It a not jolt like I’ve been reading on other posts, just buckets. The fluid looks clean to me and is topped off. Every once in while, sitting at a light, the RPM's drop a little, nothing to write home about but something new. Please tell me its something other than the trany! I'm waiting for the call from the mechanic and just want to educate myself for things to ask if he thought to look into. Thanks! |

Could be the faulty TB. Your symptons sound like mine.... I suggest replacing the spark plugs. That should resolve the situation and its the cheapest solution.

My 03 started bucking and finally threw a CEL. They had to replace the ignition coils on the back side of my V6. I had them do the plugs while they were in there.

You’re dead on emp812! Just go the car back after two separate mechanics said they wanted to bust open the tranny. This third guy new exactly what the problems was just by my description, bad coils in the back. The car didn’t setoff the check engine light and he couldn’t pickup which cylinder it was because it was intermittent. He recommended replacing the 3 hardest to get first along with all the plugs. Thanks for your help guys!!!

I'm having the same problem. How does changing the plugs/coil pack help this? It sure feels transmission related. Thanks. Well after freaking over the past few weeks that the tranny was dying I took your advice, changed plugs and replaced all of the ignition coils since the car has 115,000 miles on it with the original plugs. Problem solved. Car runs like new. Thanks for sharing your knowledge guys.
