Reading all of these horror stories about some 6's trannys I wanted to just ask the overall dependability of the 2007 6i's ATX? Thanks for the input!

I have an 07 6i and have had great luck with it so far. I've driven it for for about 20K miles now and the only issues I had was a CEL due to the o2 sensor and a whine when you're off the throttle.

Can't say that I know of too many Mazda ATX horror stories. Other than the well known shift shock, due to shitty shift programming. People going to quick lube shops and having the shop add the wrong fluid ,causing their trannys to crap out.And maybe a few morons doing shit they shouldn't be doing.

I think these trannys are pretty sound mechanically. There will always be a few bad apples ,but what car maker has a perfect car. Each will have their own issues.

To extend your trannys life there are a few things you can do. Install a good tranny cooler , B&M is highly recommended,as it has a bypass valve as to not interfere with flow, and are of good sturdy quality. Change your fliuds when recommended. And add a bottle Lubegard, it's a good additive that I've only read good things about.

Will the B&M cooler void my manufacturer warranty?

That really depends on your dealer. If they are cool they may allow it to be installed. Ask them if they will honor your warranty with it .Get it in writing if you can.

In any event. You could install it clandestine w/o them knowing.Just buy a few feet of tranny cooler hose, and remove and save the stock hoses. If you ever need any warranty work just remove cooler and install the OEM tranny hoses.
It seems like alot of work ,but coolers are one of the best things you can do to extend your transmissions life.

06 5spd ATX with 45,000 miles on it. Zero problems. Getting ready to do a fluid exchange when I break 50k.
