2018 Turbo 0-60 Time

I can't post links, but Motor Trend published an article comparing the CX-5 with the Mazda 6 Signature and they say the 0-60 time is 6.4 seconds. This is the first official time I've seen.

Interesting. I wouldn't discount this, but as the reviews have said, as well as confirmed by forum members, the turbo 6 just doesn't "feel" fast in most circumstances. I think one member on here described it accurately when they said "unassuming speed". It doesn't feel fast, but sure enough, you look at the speedo and it's definitely climbing quickly.

Performance-wise, it reminds me a lot of my 2004 Lincoln LS V8 (Jaguar Drivetrain w/ a Lincoln Body) that I had back in the day. I think those specs were 280hp/286tq. It could barely spin the wheels and throttle response was dialed waaaaay back. But sure enough, you look at the speedo and it was definitely moving fast.

So anyway, not really the root of your question; I digress. I would say 6.4s is accurate in perfect circumstances. I've seen another article (I forget which one) say 7.2s. I really doubt it's 7.2s - that's very conservative. My challenge is I can't even get this thing out of first gear w/o spinning the tires under any kind of legitimate throttle. I partially blame the tires, and partially blame Mazda for not using a LSD with 310tq.

I'm sure it feels faster than it is, but with the Accord 2.0T clocked at 5.7 seconds to 60 it's significantly slower. Too bad the Accord is ugly!

I'm interested as to what the mileage was on the car when they tested it. I remember the very first time I test drove my car I was left underwhelmed by the acceleration but bought it anyway due to everything else that the Signature offered. The sales manager mentioned that the motor would break in over time and I'm already starting to agree with him. Unless my K&N filter has made a big difference (I can't see that actually being the case) the car pulls much harder up above 4500 rpm now with 1250 km on it as opposed to when I first bought it. I'm taking my car to the drag strip tonight so I'll report back with my best ET and mph I can manage out of it.

Sounds like Motor Trend is accurate. My best ET last night was a 15.18 and best mph was 93.12. I was launching the car pretty soft so even with the stock set up I think 14's aren't out of the question on a nice cool night with more practice on the starting line. Car is definitely fast enough to be fun at the strip. It was going thru the traps in 4th gear right in the heart of the peak torque/hp and I started wishing for more track length since it was still pulling pretty hard.
I'll be back at the track with it when someone finally comes out with an exhaust for it.

That is a good time and trap. I also noticed in there review they talked the suv tires. I think with better gripping tires times will drop even more.

1) Put some better tires on it
2) Let it break in at least 2500mi
3) Run it on Premium fuel from Day 1 to let the ECU calibrate
4) Try trap times then

I'm sure you can shave a few more tenths off the trap speeds if it had grippier tires and some time to break in.

Are you able to capture that information? I'd love to know what the correct time is for the DA.
