wait wait wait, the shop was telling you that your poor compression was potentially from a poor injector seal? Please explain this. I would love to hear it.

Not an injector seal. They said it was possible the injector was clogged/stuck open and could be leaking fuel into the cylinder and washing down the walls. They made it very clear that it would likely need a motor but for $35 for the injector from the dealer it might be worth giving it a shot.

Pull the valve cover and confirm the valve train isn't blown up. 40PSI would be blowing smoke in a big way of the piston rings were that bad.
besides its the easy cover. . .
